Hello again, philip834!
Google Answers Researchers, by the Terms of Service in their Contract,
can not have e-mail contact with Customers. We are required to keep
all contact here on this page, and I am not permitted to e-mail you a
file.
I have had other Researchers attempt to access the file through the
hyperlink that I provided in my last Clarification, and they were able
to do so.
When you say you could not access the file, can you tell me what
happened? Did you see any error messages? Were there any new windows
that opened up? Can you describe anything else that happened?
The file contains just the number of Oscar nominations and the number
of Oscar wins, to which you agreed in your Comment below.
I am committed to working with you to ensure that you are able to
access your spreadsheet, and will work with you until you can do so.
Please do not rate this Answer until you have been able to download
your spreadsheet file.
Thanks,

Philip,
Do you have the Microsoft Excel application installed on your PC? If
so, what version is it?

Yes I have excel, the newest version either excel 2002 or excel XP- If
you could just post the answers again in seperate colums because I can
cut and past it. Heres an example:
Instead of:
Movie1 5 1
Movie2 7 3
Movie3 6 1
etc.
Post:
Movie1
Movie2
Movie3 etc.
5
7
6 etc.
1
3
1 etc.
I hope that made sense- but then i can put the movie in one column and
paste the nominations in another column and the oscars won in the
third column.
Thanks,
Philip Krim

Philip,
Before I do reformatting on this file, if you would be willing to
humor me, I'd appreciate it.
Open up Windows Explorer (NOT Internet Explorer).
Pull down the "Tools" menu at the top of the screen and choose "Folder
Options". Under the tab marked "File Types", scroll down the list
toward the bottom and make sure you have a file type of "XLS" and that
it is labeled "Microsoft Excel Worksheet" with a little spreadsheet
icon next to it. If you do NOT have such a file type, or you do have
an XLS filetype, but the label and icon are something else, if you do
not know how to add/change the filetype to point to Microsoft Excel,
come back here and post a message, and I will help you to do that.
Either way, if you would try first starting up the Excel program and
then clicking on the hyperlink to the file on below, I would
appreciate you doing so. It may be that you have to start up Excel
first to "prime the pump", so to speak.

Philip,
Try this:
*RIGHT*click on the link below, choose "Save Target As...", and when
the dialog box comes up, navigate to the "My Documents" folder, then
make sure "Oscars.xls" appears in the "File name:" box. Check also
that the "Save As Type:" box contains "Microsoft Excel Worksheet"; if
it does not, pull down the menu in that box and choose "All Files".
Then click "Save".
http://www.darkfriends.net/~misc/Oscars.xls
Once you have done this, you should be able to start up the Excel
program, pull down the "File" menu in the upper left-hand corner,
choose "Open", then navigate to the "My Documents" folder and
double-click on "Oscars.xls". This should bring up your spreadsheet
file.
(My thanks to Researcher Feilong-ga for this suggestion; sometimes a
fresh pair of eyes can see something I'm too tired to see!)
If this still does not work, (and/or if the "Save As Type:" appears as
something OTHER than "Microsoft Excel Worksheet", come back here and
post a comment (include the "Save As Type", if it's different).
Thanks,
ace
