Firstly, I'd like to say that I really love this service and many of
the answers that I have read so far. I also have enjoyed doing
research for many of the answers I have given in the past and helping
people with their problems. I have never asked a question here before
however, so I am hoping to recieve the same level of quality that I
have come to expect to be given to others here.

Now, a little background on my current situation:

I have about 50 alacritech server accellerator quad port network
cards, that I bought off ebay for about $30 each. According to
alacritech.com and several websites such as cdw.com that sell these
cards, they seem to sell for about $700 each. I've tested some of
these cards and they are exactly as they should be, truly excellent
cards with impressive features. These cards are new and sealed, but
not in box.

The person on ebay who I purchased these cards from explained to me
that these cards were selling so cheap because he got them from a
failed business who needed to liquidate and didn't understand the
value of their inventory. Furthermore, he needed money sooner rather
than later, and thusly didn't want to spent the time to find people to
buy them for what they were worth. If his
story is true or not, I can't know for sure, but I assume that this is
the
case.

I have begun the process of reselling these cards on ebay, and have
found that I can sell about 1 card every 7-10 days for about $90
including shipping. Though this is fairly good compared to my initial
investment, this process is fairly slow, and still this price is
rather low
compared to the card's retail value.

One thing that may restrict the market for these cards is they only
work in windows nt4.0, windows 2000, and linux, plus, they only have
their accellerated features in windows nt4.0 and windows 2000. Another
reason it is slightly hard to sell these cards is because they have
specialized features that most consumers do not need, but are very
useful for a select group of computer users. Despite this, the correct
category to list these cards on ebay for is the 10/100 networking
category which has thousands of items. So, pretty much the only way to
find these cards is to know exactly what you are looking for and
search for "alacritech", which at any given time usually comes back
with between 0 and 2 results.

What I am looking for are in your answer are solid suggestions as to
what venue I can use to sell these cards more quickly and for a
greater profit. Regardless of how you find it, the general requirement
is thus:

Find any individual or group of people or organization(s) who say they
are willing to buy at least a total of 10 of these network cards
combined for a price of $200 each.

Some suggestions:

Contact businesses who may be interested in purchasing these
cards, and report back on these businesses to me. A good place to look
for these would be windows 2000 server based web hosting providers, I
would imagine, as two of my card sales on ebay came from employees of
such a company.

Find an applicable RFP, RFQ, or similar "request to buy stuff" from a
reliable organization such as a school or government body, whose RFQ
has
requirements that you think I can probably meet, as an individual, to
sell these cards to.

What I am looking for are solid leads on who is interested to buy
these products for $200 or more each. That is what the base payment of
this question is for.

If you do better than this, and find a buyer who follows through on
purchasing at least two of these network cards for at least $150 each,
you will recieve a tip of $100.

If you find a buyer/buyers who ends up buying several of these cards
from me at $200 apiece, I will give a tip of $100 plus I will post a
question addressed specificially to you in the amount of $200, that
will be an easy question to answer.

I am *not* looking for a list of people to spam. If I am given a
business contact (which I believe is within the TOS for this service),
it should be someone you have communicated with previously, so they
are not offended when I contact them.

Fully welcome as additional information (but not as a sole answer)
would be any suggestions as to how to improve my ebay listing:

Also helpful, if you cannot find anyone willing to buy these cards for
this price, would be information as to how much I could probably sell
them for.

Hi, Funky...good to see you 'round these parts again.

Is this the card you're speaking of?

A bit sneaky, but you could try contacting Alacritech and ask
them for references to companies that have already bought the
above cards.

One of the venues should be the isp-equipment mailing list:

Well after quite some time I finally sold them all at a profit, but
not as large of one as I thought they were worth. Thanks anyway.

Howdy funkywizard-ga,

Wish we could have found a buyer for you, but glad your deal finally worked
out to allow you some profit.

Years ago (and I do mean years) I got a good deal on some 2400 baud modems.
Mind you, 2400 baud modems were new at the time, and the price I got them
and sold them at, was a very good deal. In a remarkably short time, the
price for other 2400 baud modems dropped. I think I ended up making less
than $10 each on them, far less than I thought I would make as well.

A bit different type of sale than yours, but from my other experiences, I
don't know if doing "one time deals" ever has as happy of an ending as one
might hope or expect. Thanks for reporting back to us!

Looking Forward, denco-ga
