If you are an instructor, you can probably borrow the solution manual from another instructor. If you are a student, it would be unethical for you to use the solution manual instead of doing your own work. |

I strongly disagree. I admit that I don't know this book nor do I know the solution manual and its purpose, however in general terms I must disagree with the opinion that it is "unethical" for students to read solution manuals. Many textbooks in technical fields are very advanced and some of theese offer a series of problems to solve without so much as a hint to wether or not you are on the right track when solving the problem. I am currently taking two courses where one book has a student solution manual and the book in the other course won't even tell you if you got the question right. This can be immensly frustrating when working over an hour on a complicated problem. I believe it to be "unethical" of the author not to include detailed solutions in his textbook or a separate solution manual. |

The only way I finally passed an advanced college algebra course was by buying a very comprehensive solutions manual and studying the detailed steps to the problems. I don't think it is "unethical" at all to want to find a solutions manual! |
