Question ID: 176187
I would like to know who sells, and how/where I can purchase an
"oversize" more comfortable eraserhead mouse "replacement" for the
ones that come standard size on laptops such as IBM, Toshiba, etc.
Information to include, name, address, telephone number, and web site
address of company from whom such an item can be purchased. I know
the item exists, and somewhere in the last 10 years I remember reading
in one of the major PC magazines a "little" article (possibly even
just a comment) that identified the name of some company that was
making these larger sized eraserheads because they are more
comfortable to use. I have searched for the item with no success.

After a number of dead ends, a search using the keyphrase "trackpoint
caps" led me to this forum post:

"A few days ago, I was looking through industry computer magazines
and there was an 2 page ad from a company that was advertising the
Sofpoint replacement Trackpoint caps for all notebook computers
equipped with pointing sticks. Their URL is: http://www.sofpoint.com/

They claim the following:

Soft - eliminates finger fatigue cause by old fashioned hard caps
Accurate - greater cursor control with 25% less pressure
Effortless - 75% larger, more accessible non-slip surface"

Sofpoint makes two styles of pointer caps. Here you can determine
which will be suitable for your laptop:

Contact information for Sofpoint:

Email Addresses:

Mailing Address:

I can't vouch for the Sofpoint, since I don't know anyone who has used
one, but I do have another suggestion that may interest you. The Super
Mini Optical Mouse is a wonderful little gadget that lots of laptop
owners don't want to be without. For those of us who dislike
eraser-style pointers, this is a great way to go:

Here are some reviews of the Super Mini Optical Mouse:

Search terms used:

"replacement"
"eraserhead mouse"
"laptop pointer"
"notebook pointer"
"pointer button"
"trackpoint cap"
"sofpoint"

I hope this will meet your needs. If anything is in need of
explanation, or if a link is nonfunctional, please request
clarification before rating my answer, and I'll be glad to offer
further assistance.

Best regards,
