Question ID: 176329
Please tell me :

(a) what is the mount point of a USB Flash drive in the mount command

mount /dev/sda /mnt/???

(b) how to find out the destination of a rpm package in the terminal
text mode? In RedHat 8.0, I did not find the destination of the RPM
package under 'property'.

part (b) works as you indicated.

Part (a) does not work. I use RedHat 8.0. Under /mnt, there are only
two items, floppy and cdrom. /mnt/flash does not exist.

OS does recognize the USB flash drive as /dev/sda1, as shown by RH
8.0's Hardware browser.

a) According to:

http://vic.dyndns.org/linux-UsbMassStorage/

"If you have a relatively modern Linux distribution that is
pre-configured to work with USB Mass Storage Devices (I've
tested with Redhat 7.2 and 8.0), there's nothing you need to
set up!. It should be truly "plug and play":

- Plug your device in to the USB slot
- It will be automatically detected by the kernel, and an
appropriate entry in /etc/fstab will be added automatically.
- The device will be mounted under /mnt/flash
- Use it, just like any other storage device"

There are more instruction at the above URL if the above
doesn't work.

b) According to:

http://www.linuxgazette.com/issue68/nazario.html

rpm -qlp (package)

"This will list all of the files within the archive,
using their full pathnames. I use this often to see
what will be installed with a package, but most
importantly where. I like to stick to conventions
about putting stuff in their expected places, but
some packagers do not ..."

Search strategies:

a) usb flash drive mount linux
b) rpm linux redhat query package
