The subject says it all. My wife has worn this color/brand of lipstick
for decades, but apparently Revlon has now ceased production of it,
and is not helpful about locating any existing source. I'm trying to
find some who will sell me this particular brand of lipstick. I've
already posted the search on the Lipstick Page board, so there's no
need to duplicate that. I am willing to pay $50 for a link to a source
that can sell me a dozen new tubes; $10 for a source that only has one
new tube available; and somewhere in the middle for an in-between
quantity. Thanks!

I know how frustrating it is when a product you love is discontinued.

Has your wife considered having a custom-blended lipstick made just
for her? There are several sites online that will make a lipstick to
your specifications, generally for around $25 per lipstick. That's a
lot more expensive than Revlon, but it's comparable to some of the
"designer" brands of lipstick.

A few years ago, I ordered a custom lipstick to duplicate a
discontinued product (in this case it was Revlon Moon Drops
Copperglaze Wine, which has been in and out of production several
times.) I was very satisfied with the results.

Thanks for the suggestion. Yes, she has considered that, and it will
be our fallback if we can't find the real thing, but at the moment
we're still searching for the original. Since it hasn't been out of
production very long, there must be SOMEONE out there with a remaining
inventory of the stuff!

I found it! I called Revlon, which put me in touch with their two
distributors. The distrubtor in Phoenix, Arizona, has a full box (40
tubes) of Revlon Moondrops Ginger Glaze (frosted)in stock. You may
order by calling 1-888-465-5592. (I believe they keep same business
hours as Revlon, 8:30 a.m - 5:00 p.m. Phoenix is in Mountain time
zone.)

I am waiting for the outlet in North Carolina to call me back. They
may have some tubes in stock too. If so, I will be sure to post that
information for you ASAP.

As a woman who LOVES cosmetics, I am very happy that we found your
wife's favorite lipstick! What a thoughtful husband you are!

I just heard back from Revlon's North Carolina oulet: they have 10
tubes of Moondrops Ginger Glaze (frost) in stock, at $3.00 per tube.
You can order with your credit card by calling 1-888-882-5629.

So that combined with the 40 tubes in stock at the Arizona outlet,
well, you can do the math. Your wife will be sitting pretty for quite
some time.

Doesn't get any better than this! You've nailed it, and I've called
them to place an order! Out of curiosity, what path through Revlon led
you to those outlets?

It seems the Lipstick Page is the only source. My advice would be for
you to contact small independent drug stores in your area that carry
Moon Drops lipsticks to see if they have any in backstock. You might
hit the jackpot this way. Larger stores would probably have moved the
product out on Clearance when it was declared out of production. Good
luck.

Hi,
You mentioned that custom replication will serve only as a "last
resort". If you do, however, consider it, the people at
threecustom.com are sure to do a good job. You have a choice of
finishes (matte, semi-matte, glossy, pearly, etc.) so it would be
possible to match the lipstick almost exactly. They charge $50 for two
tubes (a little steep, yes) and $15 for each additional tube of the
same color.

Another reason I mention 3Custom is that they claim to have a large
database of canceled lipsticks that they can replicate without your
sending it in. So perhaps they have one or two tubes of the item in
question that they are willing to sell.

Best,
Redmango

Hello yorker-ga:

I should have explained the process of finding the item when I posted
my answer: I went to Revlon's homepage: http://www.revlon.com
and looked through their Moondrops page:
http://www.revlon.com/product.asp?ProductID=5136&Mode=catalog#
just to double-check that Ginger Glaze isn't available at retail -- it
isn't.

So, I went back to http://www.revlon.com, clicked on "Information,"
which brought up http://www.revlon.com/information/

I clicked on "Contact Us," which brought up this page:
http://www.revlon.com/information/contact.asp
where I found Revlon's customer service number: 800-473-8566.

I called and a very helpful Revlon representative verified that Ginger
Glaze has definitely been discontinued. She then gave me the phone
numbers -- which I posted for you -- for Revlon's two outlets (they
may be warehouses; I'm not sure), on the chance they might still have
some tubes in stock. Luckily for your wife, they did!

I'm very glad I found the lipstick, and I appreciate your kind rating.

Sincerely,
nancylynn-ga
