What percentage of computer users are currently using pop up ad
blocking software?
We are going to create an engineering type of eCommerce program that
may include JavaScript pop up windows. Visitors with pop up program
killer running will not be able to access many of the vital functions
of our new program. That's why it is important to know more about this
issue.

I haven't found any exact figures, but this article may be of interest
to you:

Ad Killers: A Threat?

From the article linked above:

"It is extremely doubtful that more than 1 percent of the U.S. Web
audience currently blocks pop-up ads. The real number is probably far
less. For most advertisers, especially those who don't rely
exclusively on pop-ups, this type of software is not currently a big
problem."

I don't know about other people but I certainly use one. Spam, of
course, is the most hated feature of the internet but personally, I
vote pop-ups in at a very close second.

I use it when the pop-ups get unbearable, and teach people about it as
well. I also let them know that, if they are expecting something to
happen and it doesn't, to turn off the software temporarily. Why not
incorporate some 'error message' that reminds people to turn off their
pop-up stopper when using the software and a 'refresh' option once
they do?
