You have not provided enough information about your person. Alive?
Dead? Date of Birth? Are the sons named Wilcox or do you know?

Could this Eunice have a date of birth of Aug 1910? If so please let
me know and if not please provide a date of birth or an estimated age
at death. PLEASE NOTE: If this person is still alive you will get no
information. We cannot provide information about living individuals.

I don't know if she is alive or dead nor do I know the status of Mr.
Wilcox. I do know that she and Mr. Wilcox were married but there was
some sort of problem with a previous divorce of his which may or may
not have nullified their marraige. I suspect the two sons are still
alive. I assume their name is Wilcox. The family lived in the
Fordham University area. The birth date you mentioned is quite
possible as that fits with the time frames of what little knowledge I
have. She may have been born in or around Holderness, NH as she was
living there as a teenager. She had an illegitimate child by a John
Albert McIntyre that she gave up for adoption (my mother) to a family
in Boston.I hope this isn't too much information.

Eunice COmbie lived in the Fordham University area sometime in the
50's,60's and later. She divorced Peter Wilcox and I assume the two
sons Peter and Robert kept their surname. It is possible she was born
around August 1910. Her middle name was Hudnut and it is also
possible that she was born in/around Holderness, NH. Prior to
marrying Wilcox, she had a child out of wedlock with a John Albert
McIntyre. This child was given up for adoption. Looking for
information on Mrs. Combie/Wilcox. Still alive? Dead? When/Where?
Etc. If this person is still alive, why can't I get information?
Don't understand. I don't need addresses and phone numbers, just want
to know if alive.

Thank you for your clarification.

Unfortunately, the policy of this forum prevents researchers from
providing information about LIVING persons who are private citizens
(i.e, not public figures). If I knew that I had found a record
indicating that the person you mentioned has since passed away, I
could provide that to you, but the quesiton is - how will I know that
I have found it if you don't know the information either? You see? We
have nothing to compare it to or nothing to suggest I might be wrong.
If I post the wrong information, you will be charged the fee anyway.
If I give you the information nither of us will have any way of
knowing if it is correct.

I've been working on this and now that I know you are seeking her in
ref to an adoption issue, it is much clearer as to what I can
potentially do and what I can't with regard to policy. How would you
like to proceed? Would you like me to post the information I have
about similar people who have died? I will be glad to try and help you
where I can but unfortunatley, as I mentioned, I will be limited to
answering the question regarding her death, if indeed she has died. If
not, obviously no record will be found and I will have reached my
limit as to the information I can provide.

Looking forward to hearing back from you again. In the meantime, I am
working on it.

For what it's worth, I have found about a 10 people wi tht elast name
COMBIE who are listed as having died - none of them named EUNICE. I
have found about a dozen more people named EUNICE WILCOX who have
died. If this is what you want me to post I will do so, but keep in
mind that while one of these people might be the person you are
looking for, it is also possible that none of them are. Only you can
determine this for certain though since I have no way of knowing.

tutuzdad; thanks for the help. Actually, it's not an adoption issue.
Here is what I'm trying to accomplish. Eunice Hudnut Combie gave
birth to my mother in 1931 in Holderness, NH. She gave my mother to
an Irish family in Boston (family friends) a short time later. She
was known to my mother as "an Aunt" until my mother was approximatley
16 years old. They had some contact over the years but lost touch
sometime in the late forties. By then Eunice Combie was married to
Peter Wilcox. I'm not trying to get in touch with her so much as I'm
trying to trace my roots. I believe the husband Peter Wilcox and/or
the two sons, Robert and Peter may be keys to sorting out the various
Eunice Combie's. So I am willing to go forward and understand your
findings may not be 100% certifiable or correct. Thank You.

Very well, since you undersdtand what I can and cannot do, I will
proceed with my information shortly. Let me get it together and try to
format it a bit and I will post it. In the meantime I will also look
around a bit for some alternative information that might be of some
use to you from a genealogical standpoint.

Back in a bit.

Dear lastmove-ga;

Thank you for allowing me an opportunity to answer your interesting
question.

As I mentioned, I can provide some of the puzzle pieces and even
instruct you a bit on how to proceed from here yourself, but I cannot
give you definitive answers to many of your questions. In some cases,
as we discussed earlier, I cannot address your questions at all due to
policy constraints. Having said that, here is what I found:

In order to find these records I searched the SOCIAL SECURITY DEATH
INDEX found here:

ROOTSWEB
“Social Security Death Index Interactive Search”
http://ssdi.genealogy.rootsweb.com/

The records listed below are compiled in this order:

Name
Date of Birth
Date of Death
Last Residence
Date of Last Benefit
Social Security Number
State Where Issued

First, I searched for every entry with the last name COMBIE
(regardless of first name) and I compiled these:

(none specified) 002-46-3148 New Hampshire

ETHEL COMBIE 06 Apr 1902 Feb 1987 45036 (Lebanon, Warren, OH) (none

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Then I searched for all entries with the name EUNICE WILCOX only. I
found all these entries:

EUNICE WILCOX 17 Mar 1917 Mar 1979 06405 (Branford, New Haven, CT)

(Mexia, Limestone, TX) 462-10-2524 Texas

EUNICE J WILCOX 21 Jun 1918 29 Oct 1998 (V) 51445 (Ida Grove, Ida,

EUNICE B WILCOX 17 Oct 1903 06 Jan 1998 (V) 92780 (Tustin, Orange,
CA) (none specified) 546-72-0677 California

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I went beyond this and tried to approach it from a different angle,
thinking that perhaps I might associate either Peter or Robert with
Eunice. I began with Peter and to make sure I wasn’t wasting my time,
I searched the death index for him too. I found this record there that
may very well be him:

PETER C WILCOX 23 Sep 1933 03 Jul 1995 21230 (Baltimore, Baltimore
City, MD) (none specified) 003-22-8336 New Hampshire

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

I then focused on Robert. My search returned 347 deaths registered
under that name. Oddly enough, the first one on the list was this one,
which could also easily match:

ROBERT WILCOX 20 Sep 1937 Sep 1969 (not specified) (none specified)
003-26-5565 New Hampshire

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

Evidence here BEGINS to suggest at this point that is it POSSIBLE that
Eunice, Peter and Robert are all dead – BUT – this does not confirm it
or prove anything WHATSOEVER. It merely suggests it.

What I would do first is contact the state of New Hampshire and obtain
the death certificates of these two men. This may very well reveal the
name of their parents, spouse, and children or next-of-kin. You can
then try to contact them and find out what is known about these men’s
mother(s) or if in fact they were brothers. If you miss, you’re back
to square one, but if you get a hit on either one your search is all
but done. You will find out what became of Eunice by contacting
surviving family members. It is altogether possible that none of these
people are anyone of interest to you at all, or perhaps that one of
the brothers is related to you and though dead, his mother may in fact
still be living, but she would be quite advanced in her age.

Here are some resources for you to consider. ***How well you use them
may define how valuable they prove to be to you:

The Social Security Administration can also help you locate someone –
sort of . They are prevented by law from giving you information on
someone's address or whereabouts. But they do have a program where
they will, in very limited circumstances, forward an unsealed address
in the mail for you to the address in their files. If that person
receives the mailing and if they choose to respond, you might make
contact. However, if there is no response or if the mailing comes back
undeliverable, you are not notified.

As it turn out, there may not be to much to go on that provides you
with a means of making contact with some of the people you are wanting
to know more about even if our policy did permit me to help you with
that. What we have done perhaps is get you started on finding more
about what eventually became of them. Again, even though some
indicators suggest that these individuals might have passed away, it
is indeed possible that they may still be alive and well. You must put
some legwork into finding the living though, as I cannot work on that
– as much as I wish I could. I hope what I "was" able to do sets you
on the right path.

Below you will find that I have carefully defined my search strategy
for you in the event that you need to search for more information. By
following the same type of searches that I did you may be able to
enhance the research I have provided even further. I hope you find
that that my research exceeds your expectations. If you have any
questions about my research please post a clarification request prior
to rating the answer. Otherwise, I welcome your rating and your final
comments and I look forward to working with you again in the near
future. Thank you for bringing your question to us.

Best regards;
Tutuzdad-ga

You did a fantastic job with very little information to go on. Most
importantly, you gave me some great tips on how to go forward with my
search. Well worth the money spent! Thank you so much.
