Hi there,
Getting Listed
--------------
To appear in Google search results you need only do one thing. Go to
this page at Google:
Enter the URL of your web site ( http://hindesinsuranceagency.com )
where it says URL, and click on Add URL.
Don't worry about entering a comment.
At this stage all you have done is let Google know that your site
exists. Sometime in the next month the Googlebot will visit your site
and index what it finds (you need to make sure your web site is
online, that there is something there for the Googlebot to see). Then
the next time Google updates its main index your site should be listed
- although occasionally a site doesn't appear until the following
update.
The last Google update was in the first week of March, and it
typically gets updated every month or so. Therefore it usually takes
1-2 months for a web site to appear.
If you have already submitted your site, and waited 2 months, then
there are a few reasons why your site was not listed. In your case,
the most likely reason would be that your site was down when the
Googlebot visited.
Appearing at #1
---------------
To appear as the first result for a Google search for the name of your
business, make sure you do these two things:
1. Have the title of the index page (page 1) read "Hindes Insurance
Agency".
You should be able to change it via the template, without having to go
into the HTML code. If you can't, include this in the HEAD section of
the HTML code:
<title>Hindes Insurance Agency</title>
People will search for the name of your business, so make sure it is
represented by three individual words, which is what people will
search for, not all one word like hindesinsuranceagency.
2. Include the same three words somewhere in the text of your home
page (page 1).
No other web page will have the text in both these places, and Google
should decide that when people search for those words, your site will
appear first.
Search strategy: personal experience
Good luck with your new site.
Best wishes,
