Hi wfb,
Since we usually recommend that people find a physician or other
healthcare provider by calling up the local hospital and asking for
referrals, I think your best option for finding mental health
professionals in the Bahamas will be along the same route. To help
you, I did a search of the Google search engine for some hospitals and
other health care systems on the islands. Here is what I found:
Doctors Hospital Health System
http://www.doctors-hospital.com/
322-8411/302-4600
Collins Ave & Shirley St,
PO Box N 3018,
Nassau, Bahamas
Fax: 322-3284
Bahamas Directory at GlobalPPO.com
http://www.healthcareland.com/bahamas.htm
As noted above, you have to click the "go" button next to Nassau to
get to the contacts list. That list contains the following address,
phone, and fax information for hospitals:
Doctors Hospital
Hospital Shirley Street and Collins Ave., Nassau, Bahamas
(1-242)-322-8411 phone
(1-242)-322-3284 fax
Lyford Cay Hospital
Hospital P.O. Box. N-7776, Nassau
(1-242)-362-4025 phone
Princess Margaret Hospital
Hospital P.O. Box N-3730, Nassau
(1-242)-322-3117 phone
Sandilands Rehabilitation Centre
Hospital P.O. Box FH-14383, Nassau
(1-242)-324-6881 phone
Stat Care Medical & Emergency Centre
Hospital P.O. Box N-1690, Nassau
(1-242)-328-5596-8 phone
The Geriatric Hospital
(1-242)-364-3703 phone
While any one of these would probably be able to put you in touch with
mental health professionals, my feeling is that Doctors Hospital and
Princess Margaret Hospital are the two largest and thus the most
likely to be able to help you.
Good luck and please feel free to come back any time!
