I have a friend who is an artist. He creates really cool religious
paintings of Jesus. He's has about 10-15 painting prints he would
like sell online.

I looked into an online store and I think the best option for him
would be a Yahoo store. I also looked into selling on ebay and I
don't think it'll work for him, prints don't seem to sell well on
ebay.

I'm looking for websites and advice on selling art online to his
targeted market. Please keep in mind this is a religious painting and
it's a fairly targeted market. How do I market this website and reach
consumers that are interested in his prints?

The prints sell for around $65.

Please don't hesitate to ask for clarification. I am a web developer
and highly experience with the internet so I know basics. Please keep
that in mind.  Thanks.

<There are a number of art sites where you can set up an artists
portfolio for free. World Wide Arts Resources offers a free artist
portfolio. You can upload photographs of the works, an artists
statement and contact information. http://wwar.com/

Artist portfolio.net offers a free portfolio allowing you to upload 20
images, a biography, artist’s statement and contact details.
http://www.artistportfolio.net/

To reach a more targeted audience there are also sites specialising in
Christian art. Christian Art.org offers artists a free portfolio. It
allows you to upload two images and a link to your site.
http://www.christian-art.org/

Living Gallery, a site featuring Christian art charges $45 per year
and a set up fee of $75 to show up to 12 works.

To attract customers to buy your works there are lots of Christian
websites where you can advertise for free.
One example is Light Links 2000 Christian Directory who will list your
business for free.
http://www.lightlinks2000.com/Dirintro2.htm There are literally
hundreds of these sites which you can find by performing the following
search:
<christian "free advertising">

Offer free content.
A great way to get visitors to your site is to offer free content to
other websites. I’ve personally tried this and it works extremely
well. You need to write a short piece (approximately 500 words) about
religious art, including a link to your site. You then send this out
to Christian based websites and ezines, offering them the right to
publish it for free.
Free Christian resource centre lists 54 Christian ezines.

<Search strategy:>

<christian art>
<://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=christian+art>

<"free artist portfolio">
<://www.google.com/search?q=%22free+artist+portfolio%22&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&start=10&sa=N>

<"christian ezines">
<://www.google.com/search?hl=en&lr=&ie=ISO-8859-1&q=%22christian+ezines%22>

<Hope this helps.>
