You did not mention if you required recording audio as well with your
video recording. I have used an excellent and inexpensive AUDIO ONLY
recorder called Total Recorder. I have not tried it in conjunction
with WebCam Recorder mentioned above, but it might work
simultaneously. worth a try, at least.
http://www.highcriteria.com/
"Total Recorder records streaming audio, Mic input, Line-in input as
well as CDs and DVDs. The resulting files are saved on your computer's
hard-drive.
High Criteria develops, markets and sells the following products. All
products are available for download and purchase from this site.
Total Recorder Standard Edition records streaming audio, mic and
line-in input, and performs audio file conversions. Total Recorder may
be used to record LPs, cassettes or any stereo output onto your PC.
Total Recorder also allows you to record CDs or DVDs.
Total Recorder Professional Edition retains all of the recording
features of the Standard Edition, plus adds extended features for
serious recording enthusiasts."
Total Recorder Standard Edition worked very well for me.
"Total Recorder Standard Edition records PC audio from almost any
source, including streamed audio from programs like Real Player and
Windows Media Player. It can also record conventional audio from CD's,
the microphone and other input lines on a sound card."
"For unlimited recording you must register this product (registered
users of the previous versions click here). The registration fee is
$11.95 US or $17.95 Canadian."

A solution for capturing streaming video in ASF format is available
here:
http://www.thefab.net/topics/computing/co19_asf_recorder.htm
"ASF Recorder
Capturing streaming video and storing them to your own hard disk is
difficult. That's also one of the main feature of streaming video.
Though there are some solutions, at least for the ASF video format.
ASFRecorder is a tool to download and store WindowsMedia streaming
content to your hard drive. The resulting files can be viewed as often
as you wish. The files can also be copied without any physical
restriction.
ASFRecorder does not support RealMedia or QuickTime. ASFRecorder only
features HTTP streaming in WindowsMedia format (ASF). ASFRecorder does
not implement Microsoft's MMS streaming protocol. For this reason, you
might encounter some ASF streams that cannot be recorded with
ASFRecorder."

Yet another solution is available here:

"Windows Media Stream Recorder 4.1
record stream video and audio clips
Windows Media Recorder allows you to record streaming video and audio
clips from the Internet and save them to your hard drive. You can play
the clips from your computer without the interruptions inherent to
Internet connections, create playlists or burn CD s. More than 50
music videos can be saved on a regular CD. Media clips can be recorded
while browsing the Net or from Windows Media Player playlists. The
program detects the beginning, the end and names of the media such
that multiple clips can be recorded automatically. Supports Microsoft
Windows Media Player video and audio stream formats."
This program is freeware! The author's website offers additional
information.

Most of the solutions mentioned here are the programs I have listed
above for you, but the background information may be helpful to you.

And, at expertsXexchange
http://www.experts-exchange.com/Applications/Q_10354264.html
I'm looking for a program that is capable of recording streaming video
and/or sound from the internet and saving it in a file.
I've heard of a program called Streambox VCR, but can't seem to find
it anywhere. I've had a look on the web site, but it just says 'new
version coming soon'.
Does anyone know of any program to be able to do this or where I can
get Streambox VCR?"
Unfortunately, it seems Real Player has sued Streambox and it is no
longer available.
I hope my research has helped you to find a solution for your need to
record web based streaming video.
