The government compiles figures of large-scale layoffs by industry
category. The category of "Professional and technical services"
probably comes closest to the "consulting industry" as I understand
the term. Would you be interested in these data as an answer?

Are you wanting to know about management consulting, specifically,
like McKinsey, et al?

Can you be more specific on the field in which you require this
information? Thanks!

To make sure you get what you want, I'd put down
some limitations in what is included. Like:
Want
McKinsey and their competitors
Big 4
Don't want
Heidrick
Depending on what degree of accuracy you are
after, this will be hard to get good data. Check
out and call Kennedy Information, they are the
info experts for this industry. Also, I was laid
off from this industry, so I know how bad it is.
