You also might be interested in the information they provide on Dodge
Darts:

This page also has a good deal of Dart info:
http://members.aol.com/moparabody/DartFiles1.htm
Here they have a listing of VIN's (vehicle Identification Numbers)
including, as they say, the 1970/71 Dart GT registry:
http://www.7071dartgt.net/
Perhaps this is what you are trying to ascertian?
You can verify if you have a real 1970-1971 Dart GT on the fender tag
or build sheet........
Look for the option package code A65 (ALWAYS !) on a Dart Custom,
All of the GT's (so far) have 10' HD brakes and HD suspension,
340 Swinger interior package (without Rallye instrument panel), and
Dart Custom door panels.
Of all the 1970-1971 GT's we have found so far, the following items
are the same;
all are LH23COR or LH23C1R,
all are 225-1bbl (E24), 904 trans (D31) on the column,
all have bucket seats (C55) in 340 Swinger pattern (H6F8),
all were made at the Windsor, Ontario Canada plant (R plant code),
all (1970) are FF4 Lime Green Metallic (no vinyl tops),and
all (1970) have a two-tone green (F4, EF8) interior.
NOTE : Since starting the registry...
Several variations have surfaced to render the above statements
somewhat incorrect !!
This page has the history of the Dart as begat by the Valiant and a
good deal of interesting links:

More Comments about the Shop (September 2002)
John is very knowledgable about Mopar. He helped us install new
headers on our 1972 Dodge Dart 318 and is going to do a 4 speed
conversion. Highly recommended!!! This guy knows his stuff!!

You will find a good group of forums here where you can either look
for an expert or ask the specific questions to identify what you need
to know about your Dart:
http://www.allpar.com/i/forums.html
Chrysler, Plymouth, Dodge, (etc.) ForumsAllpar tries to cover every
Chrysler vehicle ever made, whether it be a Dodge, Plymouth, Imperial,
Jeep, DeSoto, Fargo...even a Chrysler!
We've realized that, not surprisingly, you - collectively - know far
more than we do. Indeed, we think that most of Allpar was written by
you, or at least based on what you wrote.
Because of that, we would like to present Allpar's forums. These
forums are communities of enthusiasts who come together to share
knowledge and, sometimes, to have a problem solved. They are generally
very friendly and open to new people. You are cordially invited to
join these forums.
Galen Tag may be the expert you are seeking:

Who is Galen Govier & what is GTS?
Many people not familiar with who I am and what I do may be be curious
or confused. Let me explain, GTS is not a Car Club, it is the name
of my business. It stands for Galens Tag Service. I reproduce rusty
or missing fender tags for 1962-1974 Dodge, Plymouth & Chrysler
products, and am considered the acknowledged authority on the decoding
of VIN, fender tag, and Broadcast Sheet Information for all Mopars.
I have written 8 books on identifying Cars & Parts. These books
include Serial Number decoding along with Production Figures and Sales
Codes. I can answer most any question that is asked of me, and I will
give you an honest answer to the best of my knowledge. It may not
always be the answer you want to hear, but it will be from my 20 years
of experience dealing with the cars, which have become so valuable. In
1985 a 1971 HEMI Cuda Convertible was worth from $15-$25,000. In 1999
a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible in the same condition is worth from
$250-$500,000. In 2002 a 1971 Hemi Cuda Convertible sold for
$600,000.
I'd call or email him post-haste!
