Hi there, Easterangel!

It is obvious that the Internet has played a very large role in the
reporting of events in Iraq this year, perhaps more than any other
type of media available.
I read a study of this at the BBC web site a week ago which you may be
interested in: [ http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/uk/2914511.stm ].
Also, because of the journalists that are travelling with the troops
on the front line, we are always aware of the latest developments.
However, this type of "embedded reporting" is very dangerous and,
sadly, many journalists have lost their lives in the conflict.
For more on this, visit the BBC web site: [
http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/middle_east/2903807.stm ]

I have been following the war since the beginning, mostly on the
Internet and I found it difficult to know where to look for the most
recent coverage or breaking

news.
I spent a long time looking for web sites like this and have listed
several below with a brief reason of why I value the coverage from
these organizations.

BBC News
http://news.bbc.co.uk
The BBC are a highly respected company in the UK and throughout the
world who keep a brief summary of the latest developments [

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/in_depth/middle_east/2002/conflict_with_iraq/at_a_glance/default.stm
] as well as many other stories and in-depth analysis.

Reuters
http://www.reuters.com/news.jhtml
Reuters are famous for their unbiased journalism and breaking news. I
personally prefer this web site as a source for the latest coverage, I
have seen stories on

this site appear several hours before any other organization.

United Press International
http://www.upi.com
As a news agency, these are very accurate and also very "real time".

Google News
http://news.google.com
Although a very new web site, it is already becoming a fantastic
source of quick information, compiling the top stories from many news
sources from around the

world. The most recent coverage can often be found here and it also
informs you when the sites were last updated. Very useful.

News 24
http://www.news24.com
Very good reporting here, they are very similar to the BBC because
they offer opinions and analysis as well as breaking news.

Alertnet
http://www.alertnet.org
Provided by Reuters, this site is primarily intended for aid workers
in the region but they are also excellent for the latest news,
featuring a section where they

inform you of how long ago the story was reported, much like Google
News.

Press Association
http://www.pa.press.net
A company based in the United Kingdom which serves as the "first stop"
for journalists working for British newspapers.

Reuters Feedroom
http://reuters.feedroom.com
If you want to view the latest breaking news in a video format
suitable for a broadband Internet connection, this is the web site to
visit.
As the site is intended as a journalists news source, you will rarely
find any commentary on these clips.

Note: I would have placed Al Jazeera in this list because they have
several reporters based in Iraq but due to the controversial nature of
the site, I will not

include a link to the organization.

Weather.com
http://www.weather.com/
There are several cities and areas in Iraq to choose from, including
Mosul and Baghdad. The link below includes the Iraq cities to select.
http://www.weather.com/search/drilldown/?geoCd=4&geoCdChild=1&itemCd=IZ&countryCd=IZ&itemName=Iraq&countryName=Iraq&what=WeatherLocalUndecl

ared&x=0&lswe=iraq&lswa=WeatherLocalUndeclared&whatprefs=&y=0

I hope this helps in your interest of the conflict.
The sites I have mentioned, although not strictly ten different
organizations, have been selected by myself because of the unbiased
and almost "real time"

nature of the news coverage.

If you would like me to clarify anything, please do not hesitate to
ask.
Regards,
errol-ga

Hello kongulu,
By far the best source is Google :)

"Google News presents information culled from approximately 4,500 news
sources worldwide and automatically arranged to present the most
relevant news first."

Click on the link below and you will get up to the minute news
(literally!) on Iraq

Janes Defence Weekly have an Iraq Crisis Centre website which updated
frequently
http://jdw.janes.com/docs/jdw/iraq_crisis_centre.shtml
You can access it free but you have to register with the website. Not
all of the content is free but the information that is free is quite
good.
Also Janes main website also has some details on the conflict.

Kevin Sites a CNN reporter currently in Iraq gives his own updates
independent of CNN on his website

I'm getting all of my blurbs from this aggregator:

Links where appropriate and only the latest filtered news.
