Hello jeffy!! It is always a good new to know that I have found the answer to your questions. Thank you for give me the chance to do that. Now the answer: In order to know the model and other features and details about the hardware installed in your PC you can use the following software: AIDA32 You can download it from here: http://www.aida32.hu/download/aida32pe_330.exe Or you also can select the version that you need: http://www.aida32.hu/aida-download.php?bit=32 AIDA32 is a professional system information, diagnostics and benchmarking program running on Win32 platforms. It extracts details of all components of the PC. It can display information on the screen, print it, or save it to file in various formats like HTML, CSV or XML. For corporate users, AIDA32 offers command-line switches, network audit and audit statistics, remote system information and network management. User Guide: http://www.aida32.hu/proguide/en/proguide.htm For personal use: AIDA32 is a FREEWARE application, so it's free to distribute and use for any non-business purposes. I did this research based in my own knowledge of this software (I am a user of it). Again thank you for asking to Google Answers. Best Regards. livioflores-ga |

Compaq designs its own motherboards, so you aren't going to find it to be identical or even similar to a mass-market product. Since you refer to a "slot", I will assume that this is one of the early Pentium II models. The motherboard probably supports 66MHz and 100MHz system bus speeds and PC100 memory. One option that MAY work is to buy a small daughtercard called a "slotket" (sells for about $40) - this has a "Socket 370" on it which can accept a Pentium III or Celeron processor up to 1.0GHz. I successfully used one of these to upgrade an Asus P2B motherboard that originally had a Pentium II 450. The downside of this is that these processors are very hard to find nowadays, and it is unlikely that Compaq issued a revised BIOS to support newer processors. I think you would be far better off to simply buy a new motherboard and appropriate processor, if you can find one that fits. Unfortunately, the Deskpro models have a Compaq-unique layout and a standard ATX board may not fit - especially considering the "riser" card these models tend to use for the option cards. Then again, new cases are inexpensive too! At some point, trying to upgrade an old box, especially one as custom-designed as the Compaq DeskPro, is a waste of effort and money... That said, http://www.compaq.com/support is an excellent reference for documentation about Compaq PCs, including service guides, parts lists and more. |
