Hello birkett7,

Thank you for your question.

As in anything else in life, the "best" is usually a matter of opinion
and this applies as well to golf clubs. But even more so, perhaps, as
different clubs will work better with different body and swing styles.
The club preferred by a tall person with an upright swing may not work
anywhere as well for one of shorter stature with a flatter swing
plane.

If you were to watch the Golf Channel, you would note that among the
best golfers in the world, there is quite a variety of clubs in their
bags. Some clubs are more popular than others, and there are times
that a certain club may hit fad status for some period of time. For
examples, Cleveland Wedges have been the most popular on the tour for
years, and the Ping IST driver has had its moment of fame and
popularity with top tour players in the last two years or so.

All of this being said, it is probably more important that the 3 and 5
woods you choose are matched for the player who will use them than who
manufactured the club or which model it may be. The flex of the shaft
relative to the swing speed of the golfer is arguably more important
than the actual club design. A club designed for a senior will feel
very different than that designed for a younger, more atheletic
person. The length of the club as well as loft or lie will greatly
effect the results achievable by the player with any particular club.
I would suggest finding models that feel comfortable to you, and then
having a pro shop match the specific characteristics of the club to
your individual swing and body characteristics.

Here are a few of the best manufacturers of golf clubs that should be
available at most golf shops or golf course pro shops worldwide:

Cleveland Golf

Adams Tight Lies

Callaway Golf

Mizuno

Taylor Made

Tommy Armour

There are many more, but these are some of the finest and most
popular.

I trust my research has provided you withuseful information. If a link
above should fail to work or anything require further explanation or
research, please do post a Request for Clarification prior to rating
the answer and closing the question and I will be pleased to assist
further.
