Dear SleepingGiantInc,
Actually, there are a number of ways to do this.
Naturally, the easiest answer to your question is
QuickBooks Online
http://quickbooks.intuit.com/qbcom/jhtml/skins/prod_ovw_online.jhtml?
At around $20.00/month, with support included, the cost is similar
to the offline software.
It used to be somewhat slow. But, they've speeded up the technology.
So, now, it's pretty good. The advantage to using it online is that
you can work on it, wherever you are, without having to transfer
files back and forth. Plus, it's always updated to the most current
version.
The big disadvantage is that you can't transfer files into the
QuickBooks software - or vice versa. Also, unlike when you buy
the CD or software, you can only use the Online version for one
company.
So QB Online is the simplest answer to your question.
Now, to give you another option - the other answer is ANY version
of QuickBooks will let you work from home. Why? Or How?
Take a look at Symantec's PC Anywhere software
http://www.symantec.com/pcanywhere/Consumer/
It lets you set up your office computer so you can dial in and use
that computer from home as if you were right in front of it. With
this software tool, you have 'master' and 'slave' versions. So,
you have to set up the 'slave' software on any other computer
you plan to use (home, a close friend's, etc.).
I've heard really good things about it.
Only remember, anytime you let your office computer be dialed into,
you make yourself vulnerable to hackers. And these days, that's a
big consideration.
The one reassuring thing about a QB Online software, the reason I
don't worry as much about hackers with Intuit - it's because they
have SO much to lose if they are hacked. I expect them to have the
absolute top security precautions in place. If not,...well, they
have deep pockets.
If I can help clarify anything (except exactly how to use PC Anywhere),
please feel free to ask.
Best wishes,
