Question ID: 179792
I just started to use Dreamweaver today for the first time.
With the tutorial, I set up this very simple webpage with a picture
and a few words beneath it. I am a student at a university - so I am
able
to make a webpage with the university.

My question: I made this simple webpage with Dreamweaver and I
believe that it was saved to my C hard drive. How do I send this to
the university server that it can open when I type in my html address?
I have an address given to me - I don't know how to translate my
Dreamweaver page as a real internet link. In terms of Unix (?), I
have email in the form of Pine.

You will need to get FTP (File Transfer Protocol) information
so you can upload your HTML file.

This information should include:

- the host/server name; this is usually in the format of:

some.server.edu

It might be in format of an IP address, such as:

24.24.24.24

- the host directory; possibly in the format of:

/username/public_html

- login information; this is your username

- password information; this is your password

http://www.burgettsys.com/stories.php?story=02/04/04/7987259

has a screenshot, etc. of how to set up your Dreamweaver FTP
settings once you have the above information.

Do NOT post your specific settings (username, password, etc.)
here (or anywhere, for that matter...) if you need further
help. Just use generic (username, etc.) references.
