Question ID: 180174
I want pictures of the outside and inside of ("Gone With The Wind"
movie Black star)Hattie McDaniels home. I only want pictures of her
home in Los Angeles located at 2203 South Harvard Boulevard, 90018. I
only want pictures from the time it was built in 1911 through 1962.
The home was built in 1911 for THOMAS J. WASHBURN and it was in
Council District 10 in the West Admas Heights area at the time. The
architectural style was Mediterranian Revival. The Architect was
LESTER S. MOORE and the contractor was HUBBARD AND GARDNER. I want
pictures and history of the 2203 South Harvard, old "Sugar Hill" West
Adams Boulevard Los Angeles area.

I don't want pictures of Hattie unless she is in or at her home. I
don't want pictures of Hattie's home on Country Club Drive in Los
Angeles. I don't want pictures after 1963. I don't want any pictures
of her homes or history in Topeka Kansas from which she came.

I have found only one picture on the web of Hattie's home taken in
1947 from across the street of the home in the Hattie McDaniel
pictures search. My family has lived in the home since 1963 and we
purchased it from a local Baptist Minister.

I agaree with your observation. I did give reasons in my question. I
don't know how it really works. How will I know who will be working
on my answers?

Have any of you researchers had any luck? I'd appreciate hearing from
you. My sister has found a picture of Hattie McDaniels standing at
the base of the stairway. It's great for starters and shows a portion
of the stairway and the window.

Does it matter what format the pictures come in--are you looking only
for photographs or would pictures in a magazine be acceptable? For
what purpose or what reason are you going to use these pictures--for
making copies/reproducing or just to keep for your personal use in an
album, etc.?

Please note that 4keith-ga is not a Researcher for Google Answers.
(If you click on a Researcher's name, you will be able to see the

As has been pointed out before, the unfortunate habit of
requesting that the customer supply personal information or
motivations ("For what purpose or what reason ...") is intrusive, in
most cases isn't germane to the question, and in this case is apparent
from the question.

Hi anniemae-ga,

Not sure if this will help or not. There is a picture of Hattie
McDaniel in her living room in "Hattie: The life of Hattie McDaniel,"
by Carlton Jackson. Lanham: Madison Books, 1989.

DEAR ANNIEMAE:

Your quest for information is going to take awhile longer. You should
also post your query on the www.pointask.com website (in the HOME &
GARDEN section, then Interior Design section). I have inquiries at 2
other sources that I expect will be fruitful for you, but it will take
about 3-4 weeks for me to get the information from them.

SINCERELY,
4keith-ga
