Hello Simontempler,
I located some good email research statistics:
Average email click-through rates (CTRs) are clearly continuing to
decline, as reported by various analysts and emarketing companies.
Actual email CTRs, however, can range from less than 1% for poorly
executed campaigns mailed to rented lists; to more than 20% for
heavily incented offers sent to house lists of online retailers.

Average click-through rates for both B2B and B2C email marketing
campaigns continue to fall, with B2C campaigns now averaging just
above 1%.

for email advertising is down to 1.8%, from 3.2% in 2001.

Email versus Direct Mail:
Other results from the GartnerG2 research reveal the cost
effectiveness of email campaigns. It takes approximately $500 to $700
cost per thousand to run a direct mail campaign. So how much does it
take to run an email campaign?
Expenses are significantly less: it costs $5 to $ 7 per thousand
emails. The difference is in the hundreds of thousands of dollars.

According to DoubleClick's figures, which were culled from users of
its DARTmail e-mail delivery platform, the click-through rate in the
