Thank you for your try. The information provided is very general in
nature and I had already found much of it. What I really need is
information on establishing a small cable service provider in a
subdivision and what companies could provide assistance in setting up
such a company. The ideal information would be an article title "The
Idiot's Guide to Setting Up a Small Independent Cable Service
Provider." The information provided seemed to be about the cable
business in general and was even global in nature, and frankly, not
detailed enough to be of much assistance.

The first consideration is can you buy the rights to put the programs
on your cable system at a reasonable cost? You could write to each
cable channel you might want to include, giving an estimate of the
number of subscribers you will have. You might offer to pay Disney
channel $200 per month for all 6 (?) of their channels. Commody
channel might accept an offer of $50 per month. If they want much
more, you possibly need to omit them initally, if you are to recover
your initial investment in 5 or 10 years. You can not charge your
customers much more than they would pay for dish network or direct TV.
Since you will be small at first, some of the channels will refer you
to Netlink 1 877 695 0698 which primarilly provides descramling for
one family big dish receivers. www.satellitehelp.com used to be very
helpful with free advice. I think netlink is the biggest of what was
once 100 companies in the descramling bussiness. Many are no more, due
to stiff competion from dish network and Direct, either of which may
be willing to sell you the desrabling at a reasonable price. I suppose
you could pirate the programs by various means, but a prison sentence
is possible if you get caught. Neil
