How do I install an aftermarket CD player in to my 1991 Chevy Cavalier? I am having trouble getting the manufacture's stereo out. I need to know where the screws or what not are to get the old stereo out. I would like some diagrams or something to explain it to me. Thank a lot! |

Hello seanodonnell, Removing the stereo from a Cavalier has become increasingly difficult over the years. It was preetty easy in the pre-91 cars, and has become outrageously difficult (meaning the removal of the whole dashboard) in the post-95 models. Your car is somewhere in between - a bit more complicated than the average, but not really too bad. I would go in to detail explaining what you need to do, but this site http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalChevyCavalier.htm provides the details of what to do and shows you pictures at each step. In case you're interested, you can look here http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalChevyCavalier1Str.htm to see the procedure on the 88-90 cars, and here http://carstereohelp.com/stereoremovalChevyCavalier2.htm for the excessively complicated 95-00 cars. You'll be glad your car is an older model when you see that, I'm sure! Hope this helps you out, Hibiscus-ga |
