Hello Macdonald_i-ga,

Have you considered posting to listserves that specialize in cable
engineering and installation issues. I know of at least one (there
may be more) with about 1500 members. You wouldn't have the list of
all 1500 names and email addresses, but you would have easy access to
all 1500 just the same.

Would this suit your purposes?

In your reply - I am uncertain to your term ’listserves’ ……Please
explain.

What I am trying to do is drive DATA CABLING CONTRACTORS and/or DATA
CABLING INSTALLERS to my eBay posting:

http://cgi.ebay.ca/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=28026&item=3409479217&rd=1

In trying to build traffic by these individuals I believe I will sell
more units at better prices. Please show me any methods of attaining
that list of names so I can let them know this tool is available on
eBay.

Hell again.

Have a look around on this site:

http://www.scte.org/home.cfm

If these look like the type of folks you want to be in touch with, I
can show you how to join their "listserve" -- a kind of email
discussion group -- so you can provide the group of 1500+ cable
professionals with information about Cable Joe.

It probably wouldn't be the end of your marketing efforts, but quite
possibly it would be a good start.

Let me know what you think.

I visited http://www.scte.org/home.cfm
but it appears they are only TELECOMMUNICATIONS people. This may
sound what I am looking for, but TELECOMMUNICATIONS is usually
TELEPHONE which is NOT what I need. I am looking for DATA CABLING
CONTRACTORS and/or DATA CABLING INSTALLERS...specifically a list of
email addresses of these people.
Can you assist ?

While I do not think there is going to be any list "specific" to cable
contractors, or cable installers. I do think I have found some viable
solutions for you.
The following companies offer opt-in or permission based
e-lists/prospects, based on such things as job title, job function,
and industry ect. I did some extensive
searching through their Data Cards (list descriptions) to make sure
they would have the lists that would reach your target audience.
While no site I have listed offers a run down of costs in the format
you had given as an example, most give estimates of the cost per
name,CPM, as well as set up costs and other extras.

1)Yes Mail (http://www.yesmail.com/)
"Yesmail B2B Network - The Yesmail B2B Network offers access to more
than 8 million permission-based business contacts who have opted-in to
receive email marketing messages that meet their interests. In
addition to self-reported business interests, you can target by job
title, job function, industry, SIC code, number of employees, annual
revenue, and more."
" How do you make contact? Do you connect with offline customers
online? Or secure new leads? With Yesmail, you can do both. Our
proprietary network has over 30 million permission-based email
contacts that have opted in to receive promotions. Add to that,
content-rich branded lists, plus 145 million names through third-party
relationships, and you have the potential for a lot of new, highly
responsive connections. "
As for Costs, under yesmail's FAQ
(http://www.yesmail.com/solutions/faq.asp#b1) they state:
"What is the cost of email marketing?
Cost is determined on a per-name basis. Consumer names are priced at
$0.18/name, while business names are priced at $0.29/name. Yesmail
does not generally impose order minimums, but does offer volume,
agency and broker discounts."

I went through their Data Cards, which list the different target
groups and sub-groups, and found some which I thought would be best
suited for you.
http://www.yesmail.com/images/pdf/datacard/B2B_ITProfessionals.pdf
Shows set up costs, volume costs, and sub groups under the IT
professionals category (particularly Network Lan management),

category (particularly business & business supplies,)

related costs

2)Post Master Direct (http://www.postmasterdirect.com)
PostMasterDirect is the e-mail list management, list
brokerage and deployment arm of e-mail marketing firm NetCreations,
Inc. and offers a large Opt-In email-prospecting database

(Here are some of their Data Cards, which show sup groups specific to
your query, along with the CMP, number of prospects listed by group
ect.)

http://rentals.postmasterdirect.com/newwizard/nice_datacard.mhtml
(You must choose the type of group, then category group (or list
owner).)

Of particular interest to you, under "business to business"  I found;
intranets.com (IT professionals, office supplies, small business
owners , Sys admins, Technology-computer hardware,
Technology-internet)
Everyone.net_B2B Opt-In, with 5,652 Prospects and subgroups such as,
networking and small business owners.
MSNBC.COM Opt-In, with 88,929 Prospects, in such areas as IT
professionals and telecommunications.
Network_Solutions Opt-In, 13,236 Prospects with subgroups of, IT
professionals, local networking -inter networking, and systems network
management.
Others of interest might be, WebPromote.com Opt-In, InternetWorld
Opt-In and IdeaCafe Opt-In

You can also go to their "list rentals" section
(http://rentals.postmasterdirect.com/newwizard/main.mhtml?openfolder=main-login)
and choose to log in as a guest, there you can get more specific
details of certain lists, and their estimated costs.
From what I could see, they listed the prices ranging from 15 cents to
about 34 cents per address.

For example, one list that I found using their guest search option,
was "ITannounce.com's Communications-Equipment list" Who describe
their list as, "We deliver to our registered subscribers personalized
information on hundreds of technology topics, when new information and
special offers become available by topic. These offers include: new
technology products and services...." The list contains approximately
1170 names, at .30 cents each, so their estimate price is 351.00 (if
you mailed the entire list)
(to duplicate similar results that I got, you must first choose the
option "select by category", under which I chose "communications" &
"computer hardware". On the next page it will list sub categories,
under communications I chose "telecommunications" and under computer
hardware I chose "computer hardware", "ethernet", "lan",
"Maintenance", "Network Management", "Networks", and "Wan". However
you could choose more or less to receive different results.

3)http://savings4merchants.com/index.htm
Offers specialty lists, and they claim "IF YOU NEED A PARTICULAR LIST
WE WILL FIND IT FOR YOU GUARANTEE!"
While they do not list any prices on their site, you can request a
free quote. They offer lists in the US, as well as Canada.

4)http://5star-email-marketing.com/index.html
Offers opt-in bulk e-mailing marketing to specific types of
businesses, such as;Telecommunications Contractors,Telecommunications
Equipment,Telephone & Television Cable Contractor,

Equipment-Cable-Repairing, Television-Cable & CatvTelevision, Cable &

offers category specific lists, along with estimate prices. You can
view all their data cards by making your selection on the right side
of the page.
Here are some of their Data Cards that I found under their B-to-B and
IT lists.

Offers,

Another option you might want to look into as well, since you do sell
on eBay, would be to create an "about me"
page(http://members.ebay.ca/aw-cgi/eBayISAPI.dll?AboutMeLogin)
and on that page you can list your web site address, as well as
provide a link where members can go to "sign up" for a mailing list
(created by you) that can notify them of product updates, new
auctions, ect You could also just put a link to an e-mail address,
created by you, specifically for "product updates", so you can start a
list of eBay members who want future e-mails about your products..
While e-mailing eBay members about your products/auctions, without
their requesting it first, is against eBay's user policies, you can
give those who visit your "about me" page that option. If you are
interested in starting your own "mailing list", you may want to check
and see if your webhosting company offers mailing lists as a part of
their service or as an upgrade. For example, since my web hosting
offers this as a part of their service, I set up a mailing list for
product updates, I provided a "subscribe" option on both my "about me"
page as well as my web site. From that alone I have managed to create
a small (approx 45-50), but very responsive, list of customers who
receive e-mails about the product I offer on the web and eBay.
Although by no means would this be considered a massive campaign, it
does provide a relatively low cost, or in some cases free way of
boosting one's exposure.

Good luck with the e-mail marketing and your auctions!
