Looking for value of plate/bowl with open weave porcelain edges and
hand painted centers on three legs. Bottom reads Lillie 1767. Looks
like they could be french. Inherited these and need to know if I
should insure them.

Hi jawrice,

Answering your question as it stands is not something that a Google
Answers Researcher can do for you. Nobody here can appraise your
porcelain. We are researchers, not necessarily experts in any one
field.

We would like to help you though! So, if you would like, there other
things a researcher could do for you --

1) Provide you with a history and short discussion of Lillie Porcelain
in general.

OR

2) Provide you with names, addresses, phone numbers of appraisers near
you. To do this we would need to know your location: country, state,
nearest large city.

I would suggest that for $5 a reseacher would be able to tackle ONE of
the above for you.

Use the "Clarify Question" button to let us know if either of these
options would be acceptable to you. And don't forget to provide your
location if you want us to find you an appraiser.

Thanks,

--K~

I suggest you have a peek at Capodimonte china and porcelain. While
the current Capodimonte is figural, it was also popular to buy the
china blanks and paint/decorate it yourself in the time period you
mentioned. Lillie may be the artist. While Capodimonte is Italian, I
believe that this would be a good place to start your search.

to: pintovega-ga-I checked out the site you suggested and there were
no items close to what I have. Thank you for your suggestion as I am
very new to the internet.

Lille (France) was a major centre for the production of pottery in the
mid-18th century. If your plates are genuine, they could be valuable.
However, you really need to take them to someone who will be able to
appraise them properly.
