Good morning Harry!

What make and model monitor do you have? And what make and model
video card are you running?

It's possible that the problem is with your vid card, not your
monitor.

I have a Envision Monitor with a Dell computer. I set the resolution
at 800X600 adn then when I close down my computer I have to go to
displacy and reset it again. I have updated the driver a dozen or more
times and it still has to be reset again. It worked for about a month
and now it is going back to having to be reset. I went to Display,
settings, advanced, monitor, properties, driver, update driver,
install the software automatically. I have also tried display,
settings, advanced, monitor, properties, driver, update, install from
list or specific location, don't search, I will choose the driver to
install, Super VGA 800X600. Nothing seems to work.

You are using a generic video card driver that comes built-in with
Windows. That is the reason why the system keeps on reverting to the
default color mode. Your problem can be solved easily because you only
need to install the correct driver. For us to help you, we need to
know the manufacturer of your video card and also the Windows version
you are using. You may need to look inside your computer and look for
the manufacturer's name that is printed on your video card. To know
what or where your video card is, you simply need to follow your
monitor cable that is attached to your computer -- that is your video
card.
