artist 1742 - 1819. Is it possible to search him on the date? |

I don't know how to ask this without giving away half of the possible
answer; so I will have to trust you on this one.
Could the signature be "Andriessen"? The dates are correct, the
number of letters is correct, and an "n" could conceivably look like a
"u", the two "s"s like two "t"s, and an "n" like an "r".
What do you think? Should I post an answer?

Thank you for your response. I will take the painting out of the frame
and look again. I am convinced that I saw "t's", rather than "s's",
but because of the dates mentioned, you may be right.

It would also help if you could describe your painting, to see if it
matches Andriessen's decorative style.

If you're not sure whether it is "Andriessen", you might wish to post
an image of the signature -- as well as an image of the painting --
somewhere on the Web, and post a link to the image(s) here. (My
belief is that it is Andriessen -- "Audrietter" is not a real name,
and Andriessen is quite close.)
