Question ID: 182213
How can I, a broadband user with an IP Address that geographically
identifies me as being located in the state of Washington, watch a
live video feed of Al Jazeera television consistantly and as high
quality Windows Media or Real Player stream (the Al Jazeera stream
will not consistantly work and blocks non-middle eastern country IPs -
what I am envisioning is a link from an established media company
rebroadcasting the satellite feed)

Clarification of Question by ihatelaserbeams-ga on 29 Mar 2003 05:13 PST
j_phillip: anonymizing my IP won't help me watch a stream restricted
to middle eastern ISPs.

sublime: The Slate Article is how to spoof legitimate webcaster
restrictions to eat up their bandwidth and is not what I would
consider a consistant solution - in other words, they'll patch the
hack pretty quickly, if they haven't already due to that Slate
article.

robert_skelton: That's a good site, for sure, it has lots of cool news
sources from multiple countries, however, no Al Jazeera.

Did you try the Anonymizer or JANUS? "Stealth surfing" will hide your
IP that's used to track down your location.

Anonymizer

Rewebber - JANUS

"The Anonymizer has two more nice features. Firstly, there are WWW
sites that are inaccessible from one place, but easily accessible from
another. Once I was trying to load a page located in Australia for 20
minutes, all in vain. Using the Anonymizer immediately solved the
problem. Secondly, there are certain sites that give you information
depending on where you are "calling" from. Let's take an example. I
was at Encyclopędia Britannica site, trying to check the price for
their products. Clicking on Order Information button gave me the list
of Britannica's dealers all over the world, no price info. Going to
the same place via the Anonymizer led me to a different page, where I
found the price list. As it turned out the local dealer's price for
Encyclopędia Britannica CD'97 was several times higher than the one at
which it's sold in USA. Good savings!"
