Hi,
Thanks for using Google for this lovely question.
I'd like to say here that the cost will entirely depend on what type
of renovation you are going for. Renovation includes many things and
depending on the type, the cost varies. So there is no specific x
dollars per square foot for renovation or any type of addition.
But if you know what exactly you want to renovate, then definitely you
can get a quote for this.
Check out this site for getting a free summary report depending on
what type of addition/renovation you want.

I found this site very interesting and very useful, especially for
you.
[ http://www.improvenet.com ] Here you can select any contractor for
your renovations, you can ask for a free estimate for your home
additions and renovations.
Here is a list of contact details for various contractors and builders
who can help you in giving an exact quote for your changes in home.

Here is a doc which is a costing guide. You can get an idea about the
various costs.
I'll suggest you to contact your local area real estate agent or some
construction company to get more accurate and updated info on this.
Also you can get some discounts from them.
I hope this will help. Feel free to ask for clarifications.

I have already found all these sights and NOT found what I want which
is, an average cost per square foot for additions in this area. You
will notice I said "price range" I am adding a family room if that is
a help.

After again searching for your requirements, the only site I found
which can give you an idea about the costs is this site:
[ http://www.hsph.harvard.edu/now/mar30/landmark.html ]. This site
says that a traditional renovation would price between $50 to $85 per
square foot. This is just an approximate amount. As I wrote earlier,
the construction and renovation costs depends on various factors and
there is no standard rate which can be given unless the specific
requirements are given. I'll still suggest you to contact your local
constructor and get the exact rates.
Thanks.

The new sight you sent appears to be the Harvard public Health sight.
At least that is what came up when I went there.

Hi Winni...
The link I send to you was to show an example of how much renovation
costs generally. If you read the doc carefully, just above the para "A
Living Laboratory", you'll find a text which gives an example of how
much generally renovation costs. But as I said earlier also, it all
depends on what renovation is consisting of.
I hope this helps.
Thanks
