I need a list of at least five non-food retail websites in Slovenia.
They must be B2C sites (so not Ebay, not clasifieds, not shopping
comparison sites, although the latter can lead you to appropriate
sites). They must TRANSACT ONLINE (ie not a site that shows products
but doesnt let you buy). The top sites may be foreign (Amazon is the
best example) but I dont just want a list of US sites.

- Comments. A one or two sentence salient summary of relevant points
about the retailer (more than the site). This is also
a good place to say why this is a leading site and to highlight online
revenues and/or number of online customers for the retailers if
available at all.

2. I also need a list of leading FOOD retail websites (again
they must sell grocery online). Same as above.

If as you are searching, you come across any additional data on size
of online shopping in the country, online population, etc, please post
as additional URLs with no need for explanation.

Thank you

Hello again webuserid-ga,

I’ve completed a couple of other countries for you (Hungary and Malta)
and decided to give it a try with a country where I don’t speak the
language. I was able to find some general retail sites that offer B2C
shopping. Finding food related retail sites was tougher. I’ve included
some listings from some Slovanian portal sites to give you an idea of
what’s available. In my search I came across some general articles on
e-commerce trends in Slovenia that might be helpful, so I’ve included
them as well.

I hope you will find this information helpful. Good luck with your
project.

czh

PS: Since I’ve worked on some of your other questions, I know that
you’ve listed well over a dozen countries for doing the same research.
I also noticed that some of your questions expired because no one
chose to tackle them. I wonder if we could help you better if we knew
the purpose of your project. There are lots of market research reports
that could easily provide you the information you’re looking for. They
tend to be expensive but might be worth it. Could you clarify the
context of your research for us so that we might come up with some
better solutions? Thanks.

Thus, the majority of shoppers still go abroad. The in-depth analysis
of the Web site of the largest retailer, Mercator (www.mercator.si),
showed that the problems that prevent on-line shopping are a lack of
interest and a lack of a clear advantage. What manifests also is the
concern for safety of transactions. The lack of interest partially
derives from extremely unclear price advantages and a poor supply in
this shopping mode.

In a bid to boost e-shopping in Slovenia, two major Slovenian online

traditional media, a plan is underway to set up a joint portal to

Basically, with standard RIS definitions, it seems that the internet
penetration is stagnation in Slovenia for the whole last year and a
considerable lag is observed when compared to EU. However, with both
EU definitions the gap is much closer. Even closer gap can be observed
with respect to the household penetration (Slovenia 36%, EU average
40% of the households with internet connection in June 2002).
