I need a list of at least five non-food retail websites in Romania.
They must be B2C sites (so not Ebay, not clasifieds, not shopping
comparison sites, although the latter can lead you to appropriate
sites). They must TRANSACT ONLINE (ie not a site that shows products
but doesnt let you buy). The top sites may be foreign (Amazon is the
best example) but I dont just want a list of US sites.

- Comments. A one or two sentence salient summary of relevant points
about the retailer (more than the site). This is also
a good place to say why this is a leading site and to highlight online
revenues and/or number of online customers for the retailers if
available at all.

2. I also need a list of leading FOOD retail websites (again
they must sell grocery online). Same as above.

If as you are searching, you come across any additional data on size
of online shopping in the country, online population, etc, please post
as additional URLs with no need for explanation.

Thank you

Hello again webuserid-ga,

Thank you for your question.

I was able to do this research in Romania as the Romanian language is
similar to Spanish which I am fluent in. Given that I located only
four websites that can be classified as food retailers I am providing
you with more than five non-food retail websites. Internet
demographics and statistical data on internet penetration can be found
in the last part of this answer.

are Internet users in 2002:
32% of people under 20 are Internet users,

25% of people aged 20 to 29,

10% of people aged 30 to 39,

“According to an international study “Global eCommerce Report 2002” by
TNS Interactive, in 2002, only 2% of the online population in Romania
are online shoppers.

According to TNS, the reason for not shopping online is due to the low
level of credit cards’ ownership, the low number of online shops, the
fact that online banking is at a low level, that legislation on
security of transactions does not exist in this area and that payment
system are based on e-ordering with offline payment.”
