The best exact figures I can find are for motorcycles and mopeds in
1996. There are others but they seem to be rounded up or down to the
nearest million. Would you like the 1996 figures?

Hello there, we'll take the 1996 numbers if that's all you've got and
rounded up/down numbers to the nearest million for 2001 or 2002 if you
have it.

I have improved on my initial findings you will be pleased to read.
These figures now match the rounded up figures I referred to and are
probably the latest figures available.

Source is the US Federal Highway Administration.

In 1995, there were about 3.7 million registered motorcycles in the
United States, about 31 percent fewer than in 1985.
