I've set up two computers using pcanywhere. I am able to connect, and
the host can see me move the cursor over the desktop, and I can see
the names of the program shortcuts on the desktop, but until I move
the cursor over the names, do not see the icons. When I click on an
icon, the associated program opens on the host computer, but I cannot
see it for some time. Then when I try to close the program, it closes
instantly on the host, but remains on the remote. At the top of the
pcanywhere screen, two small rectangular boxes flash intermittently
green to grey indicating data transmission. They are, for the most
part grey. Both computers are on ADSL, and are running Windows 98se

I searched the symantec knowledge base for your problem. The below
link sounds like it might be able to fix your problem.

Problem Description:
When you connect to a host computer, you see a black screen with a
blinking cursor, a black screen with random ASCII characters, or a
toolbar with no host desktop icons.

The webpage was loading really slow for me, I hope it will load faster
for you. If they do not, just wait they load eventually. If they
return an error, just refresh it or click the link again.

Green screen when connecting to a pcAnywhere host on a Windows NT
computer:

It's possible the problem also occurs on Win98. I'm not finding
anything else about your problem.

I would suggest messing around with the color and vido settings some.
Just fiddle with it and maybe it'll work :-) That normally works for
me.

Are you using version 9.x of pcAnywhere? I've had this problem before
and fixed it simply by changing to version 10.x

thanks for your answers, but problem not solved. I don't get a black
screen, but rather get a green background suggestive of the 256 color
settings I have applied to the host and remote. I am running version
10.5
