Under the answers to questions 1 and 3, there is evidence that Islam
does not teach its adherents to kill the infidel and that terrorists
who kill Christians are not doing the right thing by the letter of
Muslim law. Accordingly, there is evidence that the religion of
Islam, as correctly interpreted, is not a factor that should influence
Muslims to kill non-Muslims. This implies that other factors must
have responsible for influencing those who killed people on 9/11 --
conceivably factors such as Arab nationalism, jealousy of the West's
power, hatred of the West's morals, or anti-Semitism.

Would an answer along these lines, with citations of informed sources
describing likely motivations for the hijackers and/or those who
organized and financed the attacks, be sufficient?

thanks for the clarification request. you mentioned claims #1 and #3.
they attempt to learn what the islamic faith is and what it is not.
this claim #5 attempts to understand what was in the head of the
hijackers. i say hijackers because those are the only ones upon which
there is evidence relating to 9/11. thus, i don't care about osama
bin laden because there is no evidence to suggest that he participated
in 9/11. i want to know why did the hijackers participate in the
operation. what were there motives? i don't require direct evidence
as this may be too difficult. circumstantial evidence is fine. this
question #5 isn't asking about islam but perhaps the hijacker's
perception of islam if in fact it was the key contributing factor.

thanks!

I am a muslim myself, Islam is a very complicated religion compared to
Judiasm or Christianity. While in Christianity and Judiasm you may
look to there holy books for moral of spiritual interpretations, Islam
dictates every aspect of your life, and to the contrary it helps both
physcially and spirtually to cleanse one. Now the two contradicting
views of Islam are militant and pacifict. The militant side of Islam
has been viewed as a way to counter occupation by foreign parties,
they use it as a way to fight occupations. Look at the state of
Palestine for instance, they have no army so they best they can do is
use guerilla warfare tactics, in order to resist opression, which in
reality only makes opression greater. Palestine/Israel is the very
stem of all the problems, including that of Sept 11. The idea of a
Jewish state in a dominantly Muslim/Arab region is unthinkable of,
from my knowledge I know that Saudi Arabia, and Egypt only recognize
Israel as a state that has the right to exist. Israeli has had several
ties to the militarys of many nations which fight muslim nations, from
the Christian Lebanese who slaughtered Muslims in there country, to
the Indians who fight Pakistanis. The reason I stress Israel is
because of its military action against Islam, and the fact that many
Arab monarchies use this hate to divert militancy towards Israel, by
using specific verses from the Quran.
The word Islam means "Submission to God" God is your everyday life,
thus the word "jihad" appears it is the fighting of sin in everyday
life, the struggle you must over come for Allah, God. “Let those fight
in the cause of Allah who see the life of this world for the
Hereafter. To him who fights in the cause of Allah – whether he is
slain or gets victory – soon shall We give him a reward of great
value.” 4:74 This is a quote from the Quran a militant would take this
literal a normal muslim, spirtually. What Muhammed would do when he
would refer to literal fighting was he woul refer specifically to what
group, in another quote Muhammed says "Do not attack Christians and
Jews, for they are the people of the book, those who we stemmed from
because they betrayed God." If you think about it the Islamic
militants saw several images of Palestinians being brutalized by the
Israelis, and used whatever they could do in their power to destroy
those who support the Israelis, what better economical and military
target than the US?
Think about it, what is the nation of Israel? Is it not the creation
of a state to keep a region opressed? I mean what other country does
the US freely give billions in tanks, and nuclear weapons (YES NUCLEAR
WEAPONS) to? If you want to learn a lot about Islamic Militism I would
HIGHLY reccomend the book written by the legendary Islamic
Revolutionary himself Khomeni's "The Hokumat-e-Islami (Islamic Rule)."
Israel is the center of this, I mean why did Daniel Pearl(the jewish
wall street journalist) die in Pakistan, because of Islams unity and
open heartedness all Muslims tend to have a bond that is something
amazing, the outcry which rallys all.
Islam has mass converts I know at least 18 americans of different
nationalites who have converted, it is religion to all who let go of
ignorance and hate and accept the love around them. Many Christians
and Jews hate Islam, they print the Quran changing things so that many
will stop to convert, at first i thought this was false, but the
blasphomy was sadly reality. Opression leads to hate, and what
militants do is take specific verses from the Quran which are made for
specific situations (such as when muslims as attacked) and they preach
it to the youth in order for them to hate and make the cycle continue,
these men dont stop when they are cornered they take you with them.
The Islamic Empire was the quickest expanding empire in history, it
stopped do to corrupt officials, under Islamic rule religious freedom
was given to all, at the most a tax had to be payed for not being
muslim, religious freedom is something not given to Europe til the
French Revoluiton. It truly baffles my how could Jews be so mean after
for soo many centuries Muslims have given them shelter from Christians
the Crusaders, corrupt Islamic monarchies and dictatorships are
supported by the US in such countries as Qutar, Bahrain, and Oman....
it is wierd how most of the hijackers from 911 and fighters from
Afghanistan were from these countries.
NEVER DID IT SAY IN CHRISTIANITY OR JUDISAM THAT ONE COULD CHANGE THE
WRITTEN WORD OF THE BOOK. Interest is not permitted in Islamic nations
because simply it makes rich richer, poor poorer. Christians and Jews
"reformed" this idea, Jesus never said the Church was allowed, but you
have the Pope who excercizes divine authority, also the one who
launched Crusades against the Arab lands, Crusaders plunderd and
looted and raped thousands mercilessly and boasted about it in several
accounts, only twice did muslims attack Chrisian Europe. So for
centuries opression will lead to hate, and knowing your enemy is
beside you, being preached a lie that you must die fighting, that is
what these people were taught and that is wat they claimed to use to
kill thousands, something that is condemned in the Islamic World, and
something that the majority of Muslims clerics agree will make them
burn in the deepst pits of hell.
