Martin Gore has covered a 1960s song with the word "daddy".  Perhaps
you heard him (instead of all of Depeche Mode) singing this song. 
Would this song be a satisfactory answer?

Cynthia-ga has found the song that I found.  It's not in DM's
discography; it's in Martin Gore's.  Would that be a sufficient
answer?

The song is called "wide awake"

I don't think it's Wide Awake, I couldn't find it at their discography
page, but here it is just in case...
