I tried the search "i like americans" -hemingway on Google which shows all results that include the phrase "I like Americans" without the term Hemingway. There were only 479 results, none of the first ones which were the poem you were looking for. poem "i like americans" -hemingway only has 21 results. Hopefully another researcher will be able to help you find this poem. |

Hi, bard68, Granger's Index to Poetry (8th edition) lists a poem of this title by Nancy Boyd. It is included in an anthology "Yankee Doodles: a book of American Verse", edited by Ted Malone and published by McGraw-Hill Book Company in 1943. A later edition of this was published in 1948 by Garden City Publishing Company under the title "The All-American Book of Verse". I wonder if this is the poem you are looking for? Unfortunately my library doesn't have either of these titles in stock, nor can I find the poem in any other anthology, nor anything by Boyd herself. The fatc that the poem is included in just one anthology might suggest that it is somewhat obscure, or at least not too well-known. I hope this is enough to put you or another researcher onto the right track now. Good luck! |
