Question ID: 183584
Why are there seemingly no researchers interested in my question
number: 183493?? I would have thought that with some of the other
"crumbs" being thrown around I would have been knocked over in the
rush. Where's Pinky in all this? And what about a freeby from Brian?
And where is Pafalfa, Larre and Bobbie7. Have all u guys and gals gone
to sleep. What have I gotta do to some enthusiasm going over 183493??
If I gotta throw some more bugs bunny your way I will. But come on.
Somebody tell me what's wrong and pick up $5 glass of Virtual Chardoney.
A good rating for a good answer here but no bl.....dy tip.
That is not until I see a padlock firmly gripped around 183493!!

Hi Bwll77,

I'm already working on a quick and probably less expensive solution
for your query. I am just waiting for a positive confirmation from a
possible source to provide a solution for your query. Because of this,
I chose not to lock the question. Once I receive a positive reply, I
will post an answer ASAP.

Best regards,
Feilong

Hello Roger,

Actually I wasn't expecting a rating nor a tip for my reply. As I said
before, I'm looking for an easy and probably cheap solution for your
original question. I have sent a lot of email inquiries to possible
sources and I'm still waiting for their reply. You can click on my
little name link if you want to check me out. Thanks a lot for that
great rating and tip. This is truly a fine Chardonnay. ;-)

Best regards,
Feilong

From what I found so far from my relentless sleuthing, it seems that
your idea to change the connector (what you call as "plug") of each
CE-50P unit to that of a CE-126P will prove to be a very tough
challenge, if not next to impossible. To accomplish the task, we need
to find 7 similar CE-126P connectors to replace each CE-50P
connectors. I have inquired to 32 companies about this and the reply I
got is basically the same, in that the CE-126P connector, an 11-pin
connector, is a proprietary interface of Sharp and is not commercially
available. I tried to confirm this and I found the info below:

PROM Software Inc.
"11-Pin Connector - The 11-pin connector is a proprietary Sharp
interface used to connect printers, cassette interfaces, and pocket
floppy drives. It can also be used to transfer programs between some
pocket computers with the EA-129C cable."
http://www.promsoft.com/sharp_pocket_computers.htm#cntr

Printers & Interfaces- CE-126P
Connectors - 11-pin
http://www.promsoft.com/sharp_pocket_computers.htm#printers

Given this, the answer to your original question, "Can a Sharp CE-50P
be converted to Sharp CE-126P??" would be a definite NO.

But don't lose hope yet Roger, I'll still look for another way to
solve this problem. What I need to know now is, to what kind of device
are you going to connect the CE126P? For example, if it's to a
computer, there are several possible solutions. But if it's still to
any 11-pin interface, I'm afraid there's nothing I can do.

don't worry bwll77! i have already taken a look at your question, and
am making enquiries about the conversion. I have chosen not to lock
the question for the time being, but it is being researched as we
speak. Until i can confirm that the CE-50P can be modified, i am
leaving the question open. I don't know about the others -- maybe
there aren't many researchers around right now (?)

I can't speak for the others, but I just woke up and got the kids off
to school. No GA for me until AFTER my morning coffee. By the way,
thanks for the generous rating, etc. on the printers question...it's
much appreciated.

Hi, Roger

Sorry, but I don't know anything about Thermal printers of any make.

It's pretty specialised and I am sure that your pricing strategy and
reputation will earn you the helpful answer that you deserve.

Kindest regards

Bryan

Good morning (here) from Roger to : Jack; Pafalafa and young Brian.
I'm guessing you are young Brian by that sharp intellect, quit wit and
willingness to help just about anyone and everyhone you can (when you
can).
Mind you me being in my sixties, just about anyone is young to me!
Will pose an easy question for you soon Jack. Look out for it. And
good morning to you too Pafalafa. Glad to see you are up, about and
almost raring to research.
By the way I need to fully compensate you on some previous business.
Am thinking that I should pose a series of short sharp easy questions
for you with some nice tips to the max! Let me know if that is within
the "rules". I dont want to upset (too much) the "powers to be" that
run this awesome thing called G/A. I hope too u get to see this
Pafalfa. I'd better post a special question for you too. See yez all
later. Over and out from Roger. I'm going to follow Young Brian's lead
and use my real name to sign off from now on.

Hullo bw1177,

Like pafalafa, I need my coffee before tackling GA questions, from the
West Coast of the U.S. And although I know quite a bit about the
electronics on a silicon chip, thermal printers are a bit out of my
area of expertise. I'm your basic "percussive maintenance" type of
gal. If it goes beyond needing a whap upside its molded plastic cover,
I call a specialist.

If the conversion is possible, I'm sure our intrepid hardware guru's
will find you a solution.

Wow, Roger ...

Many thanks for your kind words.

My age, incidentally, is a State Secret but, by way of a clue, I've
got a 12-year-old Yorkshire Terrier, called Daisy.

She does most of my research for me, while Missy, Ace, Pinky & the
rest of the crew are still sleeping.

Kindest regards

Bryan

Hi JohnFromMelbourne
Yes u guessed it in 1. Aussie but my main office and residence is in
Hong Kong. Regretfully with the flu thing over there at the moment I
am operating now (or will be in a matter of days) from my Dublin (IOM)
office. Rather coincidentially my best male friend and business
partner/colleague is named John and he lives in Brighton in Melbourne.
So there u go! It's 3.30am here in Cairns where I am right now and I
am due to catch a flight later today. Will be "off air" (here) for at
least a couple of weeks so will catch up with u and all the rest of
the g/a crew/team down the track just a little bit.

You are Australian, Roger?

I am so sorry!

I had absolutely no idea.

The Queen will be very upset when I tell her.

Philip, too.

And Charles.

Ah, well, it just goes to show ....

Nobody's perfect.

Kindest regards

Bryan
