Good morning!

The fastest way to find the originating IP address of an e-mail you've
received is to run the full headers through Julian Haight's SpamCop
service:

SpamCop
http://spamcop.net

You can register for a free spam reporting account and use it to trace
e-mail without sending abuse reports (or if it's spam you're tracing,
send abuse reports quickly with only a click).

If you'd like to learn how to read headers yourself, the January 2003
issue of MaximumPC magazine offers a brief visual explanation:

There's a more in-depth explanation at StopSpam.org:

Reading Email Headers
http://www.stopspam.org/email/headers/headers.html

Though both articles are written in the context of tracking down
spammers, the explanation applies to *all* e-mail tracing.

If you don't know how to view full headers in your e-mail client,
please let me know which one you're using, and I'll be glad to walk
you through the process of getting the headers to display. If you
*can* view the full headers, but still find them confusing, post them
here (with *your* e-mail address omitted) and I'll help you sort them
out.

Should you require additional assistance, simply ask for
clarification. I'll be glad to help.
