English artist Harold Copping (1863-1932) painted a picture of Christ
surrounded by children. It is titled "The Hope of the World." I want
to know who has copyright or, if copyright has run out, where I can
secure a hard-copy print of the picture or digitized material -- company,
address, etc.

Carlton Antiques is selling a postcard featuring "The Hope of the
World" which you can view at this address:
<http://www.carlton-antiques.com/SubjectPCards/fairies2.htm>. The
price listed is 4 British pounds plus postage, and they ship
internationally, if you don't happen to be in the UK. Major credit
cards and PayPal are accepted. There seems to be no other copy of the
image for sale, so far as I can find.

The Carlton Antiques site indicates that the image was commisioned or
reproduced for the London Missionary Society, which you can read about
here: <http://www.mundus.ac.uk/cats/4/251.htm>. The School of
Oriental and African Studies Library in London holds most of the
Society's existing records, so the archivist there would be the first
person to contact about written permission to use the work. Much of
the London Missionary Society's records after 1914 were destroyed
during World War II, but the archivist should be able to give you more
information.

You can contact the School of Oriental and African Studies Library at
this address:
Thornhaugh Street, Russell Square, London WC1H 0XG
