Which search engine service will provide me with all search results
found in a search? For instance, when I search Google, you only
provide me with 1000 of the 4,000 results found. HOw can I see the
other 3,000?

Could you give a link to an example of a search that does not provide
you with all search results found in a search? For instance, here
would be a link to a search on Google for "board buyer":
). I believe I know what the problem is, but I would need to see an
example of one of your searches, in order to be sure.

Ray,

If you can describe how you would use such a functionality, it might
assist Researchers to help you find a workaround.

Thanks,

You can't. All the main search engines have a cut-off point - they
figure if information you are after doesn't appear within the first
1,000 or so results, then it isn't there. Most searchers never get
past the first page of results, and almost nobody ever reaches the
end.

AlltheWeb used to let you see the first 4,000 results, but now their
limit is 1,100.

The only way to see get more than 1,000 from Google is to make
mutliple searches:

widget web
://www.google.com/search?q=widget+web

widget -web
://www.google.com/search?q=widget+-web

Will give you a total of 2,000 results of pages containing the word
widget - 1,000 with the word web also on the page, and 1,000 that
don't.

I can see times when it could be very useful to see ALL the results -
for instance when investigating search engines and their coverage (as
opposed to anything contained in the pages per se). Is there a better
way to discover, for instance, the number of unique hits found by a
particular search engine, or the amount of overlap with other SEs?
(Make that, apart from going to Search Engine Showdown
<http://searchengineshowdown.com/stats/>)

For "ordinary" searches though, and as stated, if you don't find what
you want in the first couple of pages, it is time to try the same
search on another search engine and otherwise to refine the current
search.

Another thought: if you really do need to see all the hits, you need
to check out (in Google and in other search engines with similar
clustering) the more results from this site link, don't limit yourself
to the hits as shown.

Good luck!
