I own http://www.dianesdolls.com -- Our main product is Marie Osmond
dolls. When I search under Google with the three words " Marie Osmond
dolls " my website (http://www.dianesdolls.com ) comes up in the
search (not in the sponsored listings which are paid listings) about 5
names down. However, the url for my website is showing as
http://www.ar-travel.com (depending on if you click on the Diane's
Dolls that is underscored or the cached copy will depend on where the
search engine takes you -- most of the time it is to
http://www.ar-travel.com . Even if it takes you to my website (cached
version), it says it is reading ar-travel not dianesdolls. I have
checked other search engines - there is a problem on some and not on
others. On the weekend of 3-17-02 I moved my website to a different
server. The problem started happening after this. I have contacted
my web hosting company (Verio) and they claim it is a Google problem.
I have our domain name registered with Network Solutions and did enter
the appropriate pointers to my domain when I made the move.
Everything else is working fine, except now coming up in the search
engines is a disaster for me. Thank you.

Hello dianesdolls,

Is the year you moved your website correct? When looking at the cache
of the site, the last update for the ar-travel.com website is March
10th 2003. If this is the case (you moved a few weeks ago), I can
offer insight as to why this is happening.

Thanks -

SgtCory

Hi, Diannesdolls ...

Interesting bit of information for you, and one you might be concerned
about.

It appears from Network Solutions and the database of domain names
that the domain diannesdolls.com is available.

Since you claim you own that domain, you might want to straighten out
what looks to be a serious problem - and could be a part of your
problem in searching for this.

Yours,
Serenata

I think serenata-ga added in an extra "n". The WHOIS details for
dianesdolls.com are here:
http://searchenginez.com/cgi-bin/acewhois.cgi?fqdn=dianesdolls&tld=.com&submit=Do+the+search

Bad news - despite the Google index update which just finished, the
problem remains.

The same has happened to other folk, and they determined it to be a
host problem:
http://www.webmasterworld.com/forum3/5550.htm

However, seeing as AlltheWeb and Inktomi and Teoma (congrats, 2nd
place) have indexed it correctly, my guess is that it is a Google
problem. Send them an email:
help@google.com

Put something like "someone else's site shows up as mine" in the
subject of your email, and you might get a quicker reply...

Thank you for all of your input - it is so very deeply appreciated. I
apologize in that I incorrectly listed the date I moved my website. I
moved it in March, 2003 not March, 2002 as some of you suspected. The
first contact I made to resolve the problem was with Verio. Verio has
registered http://www.ar-travel.com domain name - however, does not
host their website. Although Verio hosts my website, my domain name
is registered through Network Solutions. (I bought a 5-year domain
name registration from them - and now realize it would have been
easier to have both the hosting service and registration with one
firm). The website domain registration that is mine is the
http://wwww.dianesdolls.com Thank you kindly.

If the date you switched servers was indeed just a few weeks ago
(2003), then, most likely it will simply take some time for Google
(and the other search engines who are displaying your site
incorrectly) to point to the correct url. Like you said, some search
engines have it correct. They have updated their database since you
made the change. I'm not sure about the technical stuff, but, it
seems that since both you and ar-travel.com are both hosted by Verio,
that the name server during the change-over got confused and Google
just needs to update itself. I'd give it at least 2 more weeks and
see if there is any change. You should also try writing Google (and
the other search engines on which it doesn't work) and see what they
say.

Good Luck
Jeremy
