Which mobile phones by Nokia or Siemens match the following
specifications/includes the following features:
- vibration alarm,
- phone book with names and numbers,
- display of the number where an incoming calls comes from (if it is
transmitted),
- display the name instead of the number of an incoming call, if the
phone book knows it already,
- possibility of filtering incomming calls/numbers (that means that I
can determine who will be able to reach me) depending on 3 or more
groups (e. g. private, business, other) setup for each phone book
entry?
Which of these match one or more of the following specifications:
- Internet Connection for a laptop via bluetooth,
- organizer which can handle yearly and weekly entries and which can
remind me depending on the entry e. g. 1 hour or 24 hours or ...,
- dual band (german D and E),
- tri band (like dual and USA),
- mp3 player?
I'm only interested in available mobile phones or those which will be
available this year. I don't need any historical information.
thx. |

Hello -
I talked with a rep of the company who handles all of the direct sales
for Nokia phones [they also sell Siemens].
Basically all phones do the first 4 of your criteria [provided
"vibration alarm" is "vibration ring"?]. However, according to the
rep, she says it doesn't look like any of them do the filtering based
on 3 or more groups. She said that may be a carrier/provider
question. Are you interested in a "distinctive ring" type of thing
here?

Hello,
I do not know what is possible with actual mobil phones, therefore I
cannot specify my question with the categories used by companies.
A friend told me that the nokia 7110 has a function with 6 different
caller groups (the word in the german diplay is "Anrufergruppen").
Each phone book entry can be assigned to a group. Than I can setup the
group for a specific ring tone or something like that (I do not know
exactly what choices one has).
AFAIK this is a usual feature of mobil phones and has nothing to do
with the provider. So I assume that there are many models which
behaviour I can control like I want to:
I want to control who can reach me by the caller ID which the phone
book gets for an incoming call. If it is known in the phone book, I
want to control if the phone rings or not or if it only rings silently
or something like that and what the phone does if there is no number.
I hope this clears what I am looking for.
One more point: I mentioned dual band and tri band. For clarification:
If a phone does not have this, it has to use the german D or E net.

Hi -
Can you tell me your specific area? The thing is, the phones are
carrier/provider-dependent. They may not work with every provider.
This would help scale things down as well.

Hello,
I'm not sure, if I understand what you want to know.
As I said in the last clarification at a minimum the phone has to be
able to work in the german digital D or E net. These are the usually
used techniques in Germany and many other european countries.
I have no specific provider in mind, that means any german provider
could be reliable. But at this time I am not looking for a concrete
contract with a provider. I want to clarify the hardware question,
first.
