Question ID: 184379
For this question I am providing an excellent locator tip!!

Question: Please locate, copy and deliver to me the schematic wiring
diagram for the following two superceded products. Sharp CE-126P &
Sharp CE-50P Thermal Printers. I do not want directions, phone numbers
or links or anything else. I want ONLY the actual diagarams delivered
to me. I hope that is clear. Now here is the "Hot" tip on how to find
these schematic diagrams: On the net are numerous "Hand-Held-Computer
Museums" both Private and Public. These guys are fanatics about
antiquated Hand-Helds and associated periphials like the two thermal
printers in question. The biggest problem is that a lot of these sites
indeed most, if not all of them are European and are written in French
or German. Nonetheless I am 100% convinced if any Researcher can
effectively communicate with these Muesuems they will readily locate
the requested diagrams. If the Mesuems want payment for (the two
diagrams) it should not be much and I will happily provide a Visa Card
for this purpose. Thanking you all, in advance, and advising all
Researchers that in two days time I will be off on a busy business
(world-wide) trip for the next 2-3 weeks; getting off the "virtual"
chardoney and putting down some real stuff (free) on all those
horrible business class flights I will be on. I will be able
to occassionally fire up my lap top to check on the progress of this
question; but I will not be able to indulge in the joy of
communicating with you bunch of "intellectual-loonies" as I
repectfully refer to you as to "she who must be obeyed". "OrrRooVarr"
and "AddyOss" from Roger. Hopefully, I will share some more virtual
chardoney with you all when I settle into my Dublin Office in about 3
weeks time. Special Cherio to Paff, Pinky, Brian, Bobbie & Journo.

Hmmm...interesting question. I've actually been thinking about the
technical aspects of adapting a CE-50P to use in place of the CE-126P.
From what I know so far, the CE-126P uses a proprietary Sharp 11-pin
plug, and I've seen the schematics for the plug itself (which is
probably the most significant thing you need -- I can't imagine what
you'd do with the wiring schematics for the entire device!).

Roger, if you have a chance, count the number of pins on the CE-50P
plug (you might need your glasses!), and post the information here.
It will help.

Hello Roger,

I normally would not post something like this as an answer, however,
please read my story:

I have just completed my 24th phone call searching for these
schematics. Amazing how the people at Sharp can be so confused and not
understand a simple request for help, but at about my 7th or 8th call
with them, I found out that these are not classified as printers, but
rather "organizer accessories". That lead to another flurry of calls
and finally only to find out that even if they had schematics, they
would not share that information with the public.

I called Sams publishing for Photofacts - a schematic warehouse, and a
half dozen Sharp Parts Distributors. I called another half dozen Sharp
Authorized Repair facilities. I started losing track on who I called.

And then, amazingly, I called one of the Sharp numbers back and got a
different support person who lead me to the repair facility in
Richardson, Texas - Romex.

I talked with a very helpful tech that said they do not sell
schematics, but has both in hand and was copying them for me today and
putting them in the mail tomorrow. I asked to have them faxed, but he
was concerned about the quality of detail and promised to mail them
promptly.

I should receive these within a week and will scan them and post them
on the Internet where you can retrieve them.

If, for some reason, these turn out to be incorrect or do not meet
your requirements, I will ask the Google Answers Editors to remove my
answer and you will not be charged. However, I have a high degree of
confidence that my efforts have hit pay dirt and you will have the
information you desire.

Consequently, I wish I could have provided you with more immediate
gratification, but a small amount of patience should be fruitful.

I shall post again as a clarification the moment these arrive and have
been scanned and uploaded to an appropriate place for you to retrieve
them.

Thanks for your question and your indulgence.

Best regards,

-=clouseau=-

Hello clouseaua-ga, I have not had the pleasure of meeting you
previously.
Your answer seems perfect (thus far) but I am a little confused. I
replied to a note from Pafalafa-ga and assumed he had the question
locked in. I'm blowed if i know what happend to my return comment
about plugs and wires etc. And just right now am too busy to worry
about it.

The bottom line is that you seem to have the perfect answer for me.
And I hope by gee that you have. I obviously cant rate or tip you
until we know for sure the result. Please guide me what to do. I am
still very new to this excellent service. And I congratulate you on
your perseverance and research ability.

I am due to fly out of this country in less than 24 hours so am pretty
busy.
I will be able to check for the next 8 hours or so then I will be off
the air for about a week before I will be able to check again.

I await your advice and thank you for your efforts. from : Roger

Hello again Roger,

pafalafa did indeed ask for additional information, but did not lock
the question. I also have no answer where your clarification might
have gone!

In the interim, I hit the 'net and the phones to locate your
schematics and now know most employees at Sharp's customer service on
a first name basis!

There is nothing that needs to be done at this moment and not at least
until the schematics are firmly in hand. Do not even consider rating
this until you are sure that the schematics are correct and you are
totally satisfied that I have provided your answer.

I would suspect that I will post again on Saturday or Monday with the
opening of the envelope when these documents arrive. If they look good
to me, I will scan and post a link where you can download them. Do not
concern yourself with rushing to check if I have replied. You will be
notified by email when another clarification has been posted, which
now can only be done by you and me.

Enjoy your trip and be safe! You wouldn't have any virtual scotch next
to that virtual chardonnay now, would you?

Best regards,

-=clouseau=-

Hi again clouseau;
Well all of that looks and sounds pretty good. I'd take my hat off to
you if I had one. I just have not got the patience to make all those
(sometimes) frustrating telepone calls and be left on hold etc etc.
We wont worry about your colleague (and my new beer drinking friend
Paff.) He has done well for me in the past on more than one occassion;
so I was quite happy that he had appeared to have latched on to this
qustion. It would seem, almost miriculously, that you have managed to
locate those diagarams. I am so impressed with your expertise in doing
this I am going to respectfully suggest that you have now have a go at
answering my only unaswered question number (???) relating to
converting the CE-50P thermal printers over to CE-126P's. With the
schematic diagarams you have (hopefully) found it might just be
possible. Have a think about it and I could even post a special
question for you on this is you preferred. Maybe you tell me the
question I should ask. Leave it with you and because I am heading
through London in the next week and these diagarams turn out to be the
real McCoy mate you are on the best bottle of virtual chivas regal I
can find in the duty free shop. Keep me posted and I'll keep my
fingers crossed for the drawings. Kind regards from: Roger

P.S. If you have a way of communicating with Paf let him know there's
a jug and a half of of ice cold Aussie 4xxx beer coming to his way
soon as a consulation prize. And maybe you could give him a small nip
of the big bottle of Chivas I am going to shout you if we pull this
one off. Cheers from Roger

Hello Roger,

I have VERY good news.

I not only have the schematics for the CE-126P in hand, but the
complete service manual for the CE-50P!!!

However, it is much too much to scan and post.

Terms of service here at GA prohibit direct contact between
researchers and our customers, so please do NOT post an email address
or Postal Address. I have written the Google Answers Editors to ask if
they can act as an intermediary for us and forward this material to
you or provide me with another suggestion for completing this answer.

Hang tight. I am sure you will be pleased.

Regards,

Good afternoon clouseau;
It is my pleasure to inform you the "schmatics" have just arrived at
almost 6pm Friday night Dublin time. At first glance they look exactly
what we want.
I will read/study them carefully over the week end and I at this stage
I am
99.99% certain we be able to close this file off on Monday morning
Dublin time
and give you your "just" reward! I take this opportunity of thanking
you for
locating these for me and hope you have a nice weekend, where ever you
may be.
Will be in touch Monday morning. Kind regards from Roger

Roger,

You're in very good hands. Clouseau is one of GA's best. And my
earlier comment was just that...a comment! It seemed best to leave
the question open and I'm glad I did.
