I am the business owner of Urban-Navigator.biz, an on-line directory,
with the ability to send messages to an advertiser, via sms messaging,
fax or email, and is aimed at retailers, tradesmen and small
businesses, and are keen to sell it to an appropriate interested party
in the market.  Who are the buyers for this website? (I imagine they
would be based in Australia, but not necessarily)

Hello, Owen, thanks for asking!

In order to find you categories of possible buyers for your product,
let's first talk a bit about exactly what that product -is-. The
website itself consists of:

Web address (urban-navigator.biz)
Visitor traffic
Revenue (advertising, membership, etc.)
Customer base
Website technology

In order to sell the website "of a piece" it's very likely that you'd
need substantial traffic, numerous product and retail listings, and
proven revenue from the site. Sale as a concept site, turnkey, may
prove difficult, unless you manage to connect with just the right
buyer at an opportune moment.

One component of the total website, its technology, has individual
marketable value, both as an item of intellectual property, and value
as a potential revenue generator. The technology (i.e. site search and
database) could be sold as complete product to a business looking for
that specific application, or licensed to -many- businesses as a
technology application. The technology "process" could also be sold to
another individual or company who wishes to acquire such a development
company without the startup process.

So we've identified three different types of potential buyers:

1) Website buyers 
2) Application technology buyers/licensees 
3) Technology development buyers 

Let's work on the potential markets. Although the original intent of
the website is a multi-sector search, I'm assuming it could also be
"narrowed" to fit a particular niche, any of the service sectors
you've already listed in the drop-down menu, or other sectors you
might later identify. With this possibility in mind, the site would
have very broad appeal to a greater number of potential industries and
companies.

I'll define a number of potential buyer categories, both general and
more specialized. Within these categories, you should be able to
generate a number of qualified sales leads.

could utilize such a website or technology as either an Intranet, used
for locating Australian information by their own agents, or as an
extranet, a service for their customers.

Bed and Breakfast Associations, either within Australia, or outside,
could utilize such a website or technology to provide detailed
information for their customers.
