Hi Bretty!

For a terrific look at how sodas/sparkling beverages are made, why not
take a virtual tour of a Coca-Cola bottling plant?

Go to:

Coca-Cola
http://www2.coca-cola.com/

Select Our Company --> About Bottling --> Take a Virtual Tour. You'll
need Flash installed to view the presentation, but it will take you
through the process from start to finish, with detailed information
and interactive sections for each step.

A super easy way to make your own soda at home is to purchase plain
carbonated water and an assortment of flavored syrups (such as
Torani). The typical ratio is one ounce of flavored syrup to 8 ounces
of carbonated water, though you can easily adjust it to suit your
tastes.

For something a little more interesting, there's always "Make Believe
Champagne":

    * 1 33.8-ounce bottle carbonated water, chilled
    * 33.8-ounce bottle ginger ale, chilled
    * 1 24-ounce bottle unsweetened white grape juice, chilled
    * Ice cubes or Party Ice Cubes (recipe follows)

Preparation
In a large pitcher combine carbonated water, ginger ale, and grape
juice. Pour over ice cubes in chilled champagne glasses or wine
glasses. Serve immediately. Makes about 20 (4-ounce) servings.

Hope this helps!
