Greetings, Joana!
While assisting other Customers to get their sites submitted to
DMOZ-ODP (Directory Mozilla - Open Directory Project), I have
frequently had problems with Error Pages coming up. Perhaps this is
due to a large volume of traffic on the popular site. It's also
possible that you have a firewall or other settings on your computer
that is making it difficult.
At any rate, what I've done is go ahead and submit your site for you.
I'm not sure whether you're using a dial-up modem, but trying to get
through on a very busy site can be EXTREMELY time-consuming and
frustrating, especially if you're on dial-up. Since I have a cable
broadband connection, I thought it might perhaps go more smoothly for
me than it is going for you.
DMOZ is a human-edited site; that means that a real person will review
your URL submission and decide whether you've put it in the correct
Category, or whether you're choosing an incorrect category to perhaps
try for better placement, so it's really important to get the Category
right. I spent some time studying your site, and I chose for your
website the category
"Business: Wholesale Trade: Liquidators".
http://dmoz.org/cgi-bin/add.cgi?where=Business/Wholesale_Trade/Liquidators
I entered as a description:
"A B2B Clearinghouse for surplus, wholesalers, retailers, Closeouts,
and import-export companies; buy and sell without an intermediary."
For the contact e-mail, I entered the only e-mail I could find on your
site: advertising@boletin.net
The DMOZ site responded with the following message:
---------------------------------------------------------
"Submission Received
Your site submission has been received.
An editor will review your submission for inclusion in the directory.
Once your site has been accepted into the Open Directory, it may take
anywhere from 2 weeks to several months for your site to be listed on
partner sites which use the Open Directory data, such as AOL Search,
AltaVista, HotBot, Google, Lycos, Netscape Search, etc. We make
updates of the data available weekly, but each partner has their own
update schedule."
---------------------------------------------------------
Now, you will want to be sure to NOT submit your site to DMOZ again at
least for 2-3 months; otherwise, they may think you are spamming their
directory, and ban you from the directory altogether.
As the message says above, you will need to be patient, because it can
take several weeks or longer for your site to be entered into the DMOZ
Directory. Once it's there, however, it will help you greatly; along
with other things, Google uses the DMOZ Directory as a "checklist" of
sites for the Googlebot to crawl.
I have also submitted your site to the Googlebot again at
://www.google.com/addurl.html
and received the following message:
"Your URL ( http://www.Boletin.net ) has been successfully added to
our list of URLs to crawl. Please note that we do not add all
submitted URLs to our index, and we cannot make any predictions or
guarantees about when or if they will appear."
So, as far as URL submission goes, you should be all set for right
now.
Now, while you are waiting, there are a couple of changes I can
recommend that you make to your site.
When I enter your URL into SearchEngineWorld's Search Engine Spider
Simulator Tool at
http://www.searchengineworld.com/cgi-bin/sim_spider.cgi
I see that your <meta> description is only a few keywords: "Surplus,
Wholesalers, Retailers, Closeouts, Import, Export companies", and that
you have no <meta> keywords listed.
While the Googlebot no longer looks at <meta> tags, because webmasters
tried to skew its Search Results by "stacking" their meta tags with
hundreds of keywords, many of which were totally unrelated to the
content of the site. However, many other Search Engines still look at
<meta> tags, so you will want to do a good job with yours.
I would recommend that you perhaps change your description as follows:
<meta name="description" content="A B2B Clearinghouse for surplus,
wholesalers, retailers, Closeouts, and import-export companies; buy
and sell without an intermediary.">
and your keywords as follows:
<meta name="keywords" content="surplus, remainder, remaindered,
wholesale, wholesaler, wholesalers, retail, retailer, retailers,
close-out, close-outs, closed-out, closeout, closeouts, import,
imports, importer, importers, export, exports, exporter, exporters,
company, companies, business, businesses, B2B, Business-to-Business">
I have a final suggestion for you, and that is to consider removing
"Bonzi Buddy" from your website operations. This program is one of the
programs commonly know to computer users to "Scumware" or "SpyWare",
and in my estimation, the use of it on your site could cause doubts
about the credibility and quality of your website -- in addition to
actually STEALING business from you!!!
From the stupidmormons website's section on Privacy and Spyware:
"Bonzi Buddy - What it says it does: Appears to be a friendly "screen
mate" for the user. Will give "tips" and tell the user about websites
they can visit.
What it also does: Hijacks IE. This means that it changes the page
which is opened by IE when it is started up. If the user changes the
homepage, when they start up their browser, they will be greeted with
a prompt asking them if they want to set Bonzi Buddy's page as their
homepage. Whether they choose yes or no, it becomes their default
homepage. It also keeps track of the users web-browsing behavior and
downloads and installs other programs without asking the user first."

From SpamCop, the site that exists to unveil and disable spammers and
scumware:
"Bonzai along with other "helpful tools" that are given freely are in
the business not of helping you, but of helping themselves - and
additionally, trying to steal money from websites - not in the
traditional sense, but by bypassing a website that you might have an
interest in purchasing something from, and utilizing keywords found on
the site itself to guide you into purchasing or responding to some
other kind of offer through their software.
Also known as "scumware" at a recent affiliate conference, this was
specifically addressed with retailers who utilize commission marketing
(for those that don't understand affiliate programs, it's like being a
salesman working on commissions, they contract with a specific website
to sell/offer their product and in return pay that website owner a
commission). Developers of this scumware are most definitely trying
to get your money - that's why they offer their little free tools to
help "guide you on your internet journey" - they make them fun and
enticing and of course, free."
