Hello, and thank you for your question.
I'm not going to beat around the bush here; your chances are slim,
especially at this late date. However, if you have a particularly
intriguing angle, or some very impressive credentials, or if you were
born under a lucky star, you may be able to swing it. Only way to
know is to try.
I've tracked down four points of contact for you: Mr. Santana's
publicist, his agent, his recording studio, and the tour promoter in
Australia. Phone them, fax them, email them (as information allows)
and see what happens. These are the people who, if they are so moved,
can put you in direct contact with Carlos Santana.
If you feel additional information is warranted, or if you need more
of an explanation of anything, just post a Request for Clarification,
and I'll get right back to you.
Best of luck!

Hello again.
Whatever the new line of inquiry I promoted you into is...I hope it
turns out to be fruitful. If you haven't done so already, contact
*absolutely everyone* on the lists I gave you -- including all ten of
the MCE contacts -- in order to maximize your chances. Don't be shy
about trying multiple routes -- phone AND fax AND email -- to the same
person.
I will look for other leads and report back to you as soon as possible
if I find anything -- I know that time is short.
But in the meantime, I want to just welcome you to the Google Answers
service, and hope that we will see you here again. For future
reference, keep in mind that the more you tell the researchers about
what you know already, the better.
Much as we hate to admit it, none of us can read minds. Had I known
you already had some of these contacts, I could have focused my
efforts in a different direction (as I will try to do now).
Best of luck. Carlos Santana is a brilliant musician. I hope you
have the opportunity you are seeking.

OK. Here's a bit more in the way of contact information -- a
longshot, but worth a try -- as well as an idea for an alternative
route.
Santana's own website is at (go on...guess!) www.santana.com. The
administrator of the site is:
santana.com
Administrative Contact:
Stefani Charles
scharles@SANTANA.COM
Milagro Foundation
PO Box 9125
San Rafael,, CA 94912-9125
415-460-9939
----------
What is the Milagro Foundation, you may ask. It is a grant-making
organization that is funded by, and headed, by Caros Santana and his
wife, Deborah. You can see their site at: [
http://www.milagrofoundation.org/ ].
The Executive Director of the foundation is....Stefani Charles.
I would suggest contacting Ms. Charles through the santana.com email
address. But you also could try directly via the Milagro Foundation,
but tread lightly.
Other possible contacts at the foundation are:
Shelley N. Brown, Program Officer
Mary E. Novasic, Program Associate
info@milagrofoundation.org
----------
I have not learned anything meaningful about Santana's local contacts
while on tour (other than that schedules may change, as concerts are
being cancelled throughout the Pacific due to concerns about the SARS
virus).
However, you may want to try contacting the rock music writer at local
newspapers such as the Herald Sun and make your case. The writers
would have the best handle on how to contact Mr. Santana, and who the
appropriate intermediaries would be. They're not likely to give out
this information very readily, but you know that already, and I'm sure
you're prepared to make a persuasive case.
As the concert draws nearer, more info about it will likely appear on
the web, and in other sources. I'll keep an eye on things, and if any
other useful info turns up, I'll post it here.
