I am interested in forming a college or other form of education
institution in New York State. I am familiar with the requirements of
the NYS Education Department and the applicable laws and regulations.
I am looking for pragmatic information regarding the business issues
associated with choosing the form of entity and starting and running a
college or education institution. What guidance or advice is
available that can provide assistance and advice in forming and
operating such an institution. Also, are there acknowledged experts
or advisors that can be identified to assist in the formation of a
college or education institution.

You will be competing with the NY State operated Junior Colleges, so
you need to find a nich to attract enough students. That has to be
difficult close to any medium size city, especially NYC. Colleges are
mostly liberal, so right wing/conservative/patriotic might be that
nich. It may not be as difficult as one might think to attract quality
accredited instructors who are not Liberal, especially if the USA
statagy in Iraq goes well. I think many prophesors are pretending
liberal views as that is what they perceive their supervisors expect.
Since this question is now stale, you may wish to cancel and repost
with more detail. Are you thinking small scale with classes in 5 or 10
subjects, or are you thinking a massive effort approching the
University of Pheonix in 2002? Are you thinking Engineering , pre med,
or general subjects that a motivated student can learn on their own?
Are you thinking dormatories or on line and correspondence? Are you
hoping to be a fully accredited college by the 2nd year? Neil
