Hello,

I'm looking for a free Linux, RedHat friendly :-), MySQL enabled
support tracking script.

It should be able to allow staff and customers to communicate via web
and e-mail. Should be able to hide our staff's e-mail address or/and
be able to replace it with Support@acme.com for example based on a
profile.

Preffer PHP and Perl languages.

As simple and feature sufficient as possible. Not too limited and not
an all bells and whistles feature show off.

Easy to customize the look and feel of and well as easy to maintain.

Willing to go with a commercial version if it justifies itself.

Would want to know your recommendation for one or more and why you
think they could be more suitable than others.

Thank you.

Hello lizardnation,

Do you have shell access to the server you want to install this on?
Let me know, and thanks for the clarification -

Hello again,

One more quick question - Can you elaborate on this a bit more:

"It should be able to allow staff and customers to communicate via web
and e-mail."

When you say 'communicate via web', do you mean view the current
status of support issues that may have been created by the system?

Thanks again -

View, update/clarify and change the status to via a sort of a control
panel that the issue is resolved. Some staff and some customers may
not be able to read their e-mail accounts from public place, but can
go to the web site and login and interact.

Hope I've clarified that?

Hello Denco,

Thank you for the listings below, as you've seen it's a maze out there
and needs someone who's been through the process to make a
recommendation based on some rational. :-)

I'll try and wait to see who can give me some good advice, beyond the
valuable advice you gave me. :-)

Thank you.

Hello lizardnation,

After our rounds of clarification (which is a good thing), I am going
to recommend one that I have personally used in the past on my Linux
server. I can't qualify this as an answer - because it's not quite as
featured as I think you wanted it to be. You could however modify it
until you are content, as it's OS.

phptickets
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Why I recommend : It's free, easy to customize, and Open Source.
Ease of Use : Simple
URL : http://www.inetflex.com/opensource/
Requirements : PHP4 (sessions, IMAP), Mysql

After installing several free applications on my server, this is the
one I liked the most. Since it's Open Source, you can add whatever you
want to it. Creating a new look and feel is a breeze, as it uses
header and footer files throughout.

You can set up several different accounts to be contacted, i.e. sales,
support and so forth.

I hope this helps a little -

SgtCory
