results with the keyword sfi and its not there. at the moment we dont
see how we can make many other sites link to us. are there other good
ways to influence our ranking in google ? the site was submitted to
yahoo for $ 299 and is indexed in google because of their partnership
with yahoo. it appears in google when i type the complete url

Hi there,

Getting a high ranking in Google search results is always difficult.
In your case there are a number of factors which make it even harder.
I'll list them, and give you some ideas about how to get more traffic.

1. Lack of sites linking to yours
------------------------------

Link popularity is a major factor when it comes to Google ranking.
Aside from Yahoo, I only found these two:
http://web-ring.hypermart.net/fsd/Aff_Programs/aff_programs.html
http://www.findsaleslead.com/sub_category.asp?sec=2124&mcat=1

Two is not enough. As you will see below, you need hundreds.

2. No unique content
--------------------

I chose a random phrase from your site and did a Google search.

"customized SFI Affiliate Website"

Google has indexed 24,400 pages with this phrase, and you can be sure
they are all offering the same deal as yourself. The pages are so
similar that Google only gives the first 114 pages in the results,
because there is little point showing the rest.

In fact, there are 3470 pages just within quickinfo247.com that are
exactly the same as yours, except for the bit where your name appears
after "Your SFI Referrer is:"

How is Google supposed to work out which to rank higher? Being listed
on Yahoo usually makes a huge difference, but in this case it hasn't.
What is working with these SFI sites is having a huge number of links
pointing to your site. Don't rely on Google's backward link feature,
for it doesn't list sites with a PageRank lower than 3. Use AlltheWeb
instead - entering a URL into the search box will return every site
that is linking to it (that they know of).

The site which comes up #1 in the above search result has 505 links
pointing to it:
http://www.alltheweb.com/urlinfo?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.quickinfo247.com%2F7604918%2FFree&c=web

3. You don't have your own web site
-----------------------------------

For a good Google ranking, you need to have your own domain name. Not
only does this indicate that you are willing to put some effort in,
but it also means your page is in the top-level of the site. Your
current page is in the third level

website.com/secondlevel/thirdlevel/page.html

For each level lower than the top, Google usually reduces the PageRank
by 1. Having your own web site would probably raise your PageRank to 3
or 4, instead of 1.

Why hasn't paying Yahoo increased my Google ranking?
----------------------------------------------------

I don't know. Other sites in the same category using the free web page
they are provided with also only have a PageRank of 1. It could be
that Google just ignores the entire Network Marketing category.

Things you can do
-----------------

1. Get lots of incoming links. You could try submitting your site to
the same places as this guy did:
http://www.alltheweb.com/urlinfo?q=http%3A%2F%2Fwww.quickinfo247.com%2F7604918%2FFree&c=web

...but I don't recommend it. Although in his case using FFA sites
seems to have worked, in general Google will penalize a site for doing
so. Check out who links to other SFI affiliates, and try to get linked
to from any that appear to be more than just a huge page of links.

I agree, getting anyone to genuinely link to your page is difficult.
What might work is linking to it yourself. Start up a web site, maybe
a weblog you update each day, or on a topic that you are interested in
- and place a single link to your SFI page. Start up several sites
even. Yes, it would involve a lot of work.

2. Get your own domain. From places like GoDaddy it is less than $10
per year. Hosting will cost you more, expect to pay around $5 per
month for a budget service.

3. Create unique content. Many SFI folk who use their own URL, are
just using the same content. This doesn't help them much. Consider a
humble page, in which you simply describe your experience with SFI.
Just use natural language. Your site will have so many different
keywords and phrases that you will get visitors via Google that the
others do not.

Even a flashy, JOIN NOW! page will be okay, as long as it isn't the
same as lots of other sites.

4. Do all three. Doing numbers 2 and 3 on their own will help a lot,
and you will probably get you quite a few extra visitors, but if you
want to have a chance of being #1 in search results you really need
more incoming links as well.

I hope my advice helps. You need to realise that you are competing
against thousands of other SFI affiliates, many of whom are willing to
put in hundreds of hours work. There are few Internet entrepreneurs
who make lots of money by luck alone.

The low ranking is probably because there are so many similar pages:

Is it possible to move the page to another url? That way you might get
better ranking.
